- Maker Knife | The EDC Pocket Tool You Want to Carry by Giaco Whatever ⇒
I might be tempted to back this if I wasn’t boycotting crowd-funding projects. There are way too many delays with most of the projects. $57 is also a lot to pay for a fancy utility knife. - CrowPi Portable Raspberry Pi Projects Kit
Another cool Kickstarter project. Would be great for someone who wants to start learning electronics. - Study confirms lifting weights reduces depression ⇒
Lift heavy shit! - Do you know why it helps you not cry to chew gum while cutting onions? It makes you breath through your mouth.
I’d never heard this but it makes a lot of sense. Usually I don’t have a problem cutting onions so someone will have to try it out and let me know how it works. - A comprehensive guide to the new Rules of Golf
Great improvements to the game. I’m glad to see the USGA is continuing to evaluate some of the crazy rules they’ve had. - How long do you REALLY need to shake spray paint?
I’ve been thinking about making a spray paint shaking device, but it appears that would be a waste of time. - New US Tariffs are Anti-Maker and Will Encourage Offshoring

Faces in Things: Truck Headliner Trim Work

Might have been similar to the face Dad and I were making this weekend when we installed the headliner trim (more on that later) in my truck. This was one of 16 slots we cut in the roof where the trim was supposed to clip in.
Middle Seat Belt
I questioned if I should get a seat belt for the middle of my 1968 Chevrolet C10 truck. I decided to go ahead and get it since it was only $30.

I may tuck it completely behind the seat so it’ll be out-of-the-way. It’ll only take a minute to feed it up through the seat if I ever need it.
Strawberry Banana

Little snack I had last night.
Done With DIRECTV NOW
Well, DIRECTV NOW didn’t last very long. I wasn’t impressed with the service or the interface (Playstation Vue was 100x better), but it was useable. Last month they released a new app, finally with Cloud DVR support. The app removed ABC, CBS, and NBC from the channel lineup though. See ya!
I’m going to give YouTube TV a try. They don’t have the Discovery channel but I’ll have the Golf Channel again, so that’s a win. I’ll post an update in a month or two.

New Radio Antenna
This old radio antenna had to go. It had some rust at the bottom and I didn’t like the look of it. The antenna couldn’t go any shorter than shown here, but it seemed to work fine in this position.

The next picture is when the antenna was fully extended. Did people actually drive around like this? It would easily hit my garage door.

This new antenna is much shorter and I think it really cleans up the look.

I’m Giving “Fear the Walking Dead” Another Go
When Fear the Walking Dead came out I watched every week, hoping it would pull me in. After the first episode of season 2 I’d had enough and gave up on it, which is hard for me to do with any TV show once I’ve gotten through a season.
With the end of The Walking Dead season 8 I knew I had to go back and give FTWD another shot. It didn’t take long and I was hooked. I’ve been working through seasons 2 and 3 for the last few weeks and have two episodes left until I can start on the current season. I guess I gave up on the show too soon.

Hello Fresh
In addition to getting prepared meals from Factor 75, I thought I’d try out one of those services that send you all of the ingredients with a recipe. I signed up for Hello Fresh since I had just received a coupon in the mail. My thinking was that it would be nice to cook a few meals each week so I tried out the lowest plan available, which was two meals with two servings each.

Just like Factor 75, I liked that they deliver on Tuesdays. Box had insulation and packages of frozen gel to keep things cold, just like Factor 75. Inside the box, each meal was split into its own bag plus an instruction card.

Here is a closer look at everything included for the tomato flatbread meal.

Over two weeks I picked meals that were on the low side of prep/cook time. Remember I’m trying to save time. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Hello Fresh uses quality ingredients. Here are a few photos of what I cooked.

Everything tasted great. It’s a really good service and one I’d recommend. I decided to cancel and increased the number of weekly Factor 75 meals from 8 to 12 because their food is so good and a lot more convenient.
New Dimmer Switch
I’ve never seen a dimmer (brights / high-beams) switch on the floor until I bought the 1968 Chevy C10. The old switch was rusty and ugly so I ordered a new one as well as a bezel for the hole in the carpet.

One of the bolts was extra rusty and stuck, so it stripped right away. After trying several other things, I drilled through the top of the bolt until the head popped off. Then I was able to remove the switch and used locking pliers to twist out the bolt.

I put a new pad on the brake pedal, which was also much harder than expected!
A huge box of parts arrived on Friday, so I’ll be making a lot of upgrades over the next two months.
