Now here’s a way to make some easy money from a few suckers. Threaten to kill a cute little bunny named Toby. The guy running this site is going to kill Toby on June 30th, 2005 if he doesn’t get $50,000 in donations and merchandise purchases. Amazingly, he’s already took in over $14,000! Thank the powers that be for the freedom to eat what ever we want in whatever manner we choose. If he wants to advertise that he wants to eat a rabbit, bless him. Vegetarians advertise that they eat vegetables, poor carrots, and broccoli don’t have a chance to scamper away, but a rabbit…

I think savetoby is hilarious, and I get a kick out of it. I think the whole thing is a social experiment, and it’s working perfectly – it points out the inherent hipocrisy in our society – on one hand, we love cute, cuddly little creatures, and on the other hand, we eat animals. To all the people who think that savetoby.com is creul, sick, outrageous, wrong, or inhumane, I hope none of you are meat eaters, because that would be hypocrisy in its extreme . . . I don’t like the though of killing animals, and I wouldn’t do it myself, but I eat meat, and I understand that animals die for our pleasure/nutrition. Nobody is forced to give money, and I agree there are better ways to spend it. I’m not sending savetoby and money because personally, I don’t really care if Toby dies or not – lots of animals die at the hands of humans every day. As long as they die humanely, I can accept that and can deal with it. Can you?????
Is this a “money scheme”?? sure – so what – people know what they are getting into – no one’s forcing them to buy anything. In return, though, I would expect that the creator proves the outcome on June 30th – show us a picure of Toby’s carcass if he is indeed killed.
And Nikki, the creator of Savetoby is anything BUT “dumb as hell”. He’s quite astute for picking up on this hypocrisy in our culture. and he’ll probably make a lot of money from it – so whose stupid, him, or the people who give money to him??? When’s the last time you made fifty thousand just for setting up a web site and eating a piece of meat???
to everyone who’s critical of savetoby, stop and think – re-evaluate your morals – what is he doing that’s wrong???? – eating meat? making money? humanely killing an animal?? None of these things are wrong. Anyone who cries out in outrage that such a “horrible” thing has not really examined his/her own attitued and morals.

I think that it a low attempt to get money, but it is not against the law. But ethically it is wrong. That rabbit was given life just as we were. We are no more important than a rabbit………..an insect. There is a huge difference!

–Hmmmmmmm, that’s a very strong statement. While that may be your view, a LOT of people will disagree with you, myself included. The human race, as a whole, has pretty much decided that humans ARE, in fact, more important than animals. Can you name a single country or culture in the world that values animals as equal to humans??? We certainly don’t in this country. I’m not saying we don’t protect basic rights of animals, (hence animal creulty laws), but animals are secondary organisms.
Are you a vegetarian?? I would certainly hope so, given your statement.
