Moving West

After two recent trips to California, I’ve decided that I want to move out west. I simply love it out there. The weather is great, the views are spectacular, and there are a ton of things to do. I’ve been to San Diego and Sacramento…loved them both. I’m not exactly sure where in the west I’d like to live, so it’s pretty wide open right now. If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear about them. I’m giving myself a goal of 2 years to be out there.

  1. :cool:Go Gilroy! Garlic Capital Of The World! It’s just south of San Jose on the 101. Quick shot over to the 5 from there. Lovely smell of garlic in the air.

I’m from San Diego orig. and it’s great to be there, but it’s too expensive and too much traffic.

  2. I’d like to move to the East Coast…Charleston, South Carolina in particular…right on the Battery…I can fly and visit…

  3. I agree, San Diego is a little big for me. The traffic was horrible and I won’t even mention that gas was more expensive 3 months ago there than it is here now. I guess I just mentioned it didn’t I?

  4. Just so you know, the traffic is bad in pretty much all of California. No one carpools and everyone owns a vehicle. It’s not so bad if you don’t have to commute on the freeway to work, but the gas prices ARE horrendous.

There are nice little niches in the LA area that are not too big and not TOO expensive. I currently live in Santa Barbara, about 100 miles north of LA and while it is beautiful here, it is a bit expensive. I was born and raised in sunny southern California and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

San Diego is quite nice though. LOL I don’t know if I’d recommend Gilroy.
