Hand Truck

Last winter I picked up this hand truck for $5 on Facebook Marketplace.

This weekend I cleaned it up, painted it, and replaced some parts. Looks and works great now! Just in time to move a couple sets of washers and dryers.

Moving West

After two recent trips to California, I’ve decided that I want to move out west. I simply love it out there. The weather is great, the views are spectacular, and there are a ton of things to do. I’ve been to San Diego and Sacramento…loved them both. I’m not exactly sure where in the west I’d like to live, so it’s pretty wide open right now. If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear about them. I’m giving myself a goal of 2 years to be out there.

I'm IN

No, not the Verizon Network IN (even though I am actually IN), but I’m in my new place. I still have to get my audio and video systems all connected and unbox a few things, but it’s looking pretty homey so far. We packed up all of Heather’s stuff and she took off for Rogers City with Mom and Dad not too long ago.

It feels good to be on my own. I better get back to working on this stuff so that I can relax later tonight.

Moving Days

Tonight and tomorrow are the big moving days and I can’t wait for it all to be over. I’m sick of cleaning, packing, loading the car, and everything else. I just want to be moved in so that I can live normal again.

I’m taking this afternoon off (in addition to Thursday and Friday) to get a jumpstart on cleaning and moving things. The plan is to get as much of what’s left moved tonight so that we don’t have much left for tomorrow when the parents come down. It’s raining outside right now, so hopefully in the next few hours that will quit.

Now that I look back on it, I should have took one full day to clean the new place and then moved everything the next day. Moving over the course of two weeks is nice for the fact that it’s not a big rush, but it’s one hell of a pain in the ass!

Living On My Own

There obviously will be advantages and disadvantages to living on my own (which starts on Thursday). Here are some of the things I’ve thought about recently.

Advantages

  • Uh…I’ll be living by myself!
  • I don’t have to worry about washing someone else’s dishes or taking out their trash.
  • I can play music or movies as loud as I want as late as I want.
  • The entire refrigerator and freezer is my space.
  • The food in the cupboards is mine.

Disadvantages

  • Paying all of the bills.
  • Heather won’t be around to cook me up some good meals or for company on a quick run to the store.
  • I won’t have anyone in the next room to talk to.
  • I have to do all of the cleaning.

I think I’m going to love it though!

Another Day

It was a good day, as far as the new place goes. I slept in a little bit and then screwed around on the computer for an hour or so before getting started on my tasks for the day. I took down all of my posters, and looked for things I could do without. I managed to put a few boxes worth of stuff together, along with jackets, and some odds and ends. Enough for a load anyways. Took a bunch of shit out to the trash too…I think the whole damn dumpster is my stuff.

Starting The Move

I started moving stuff today to my new place. It’s a pain in the ass, but exciting at the same time. The futon is all put together and was a great purchase. I also spent some more money today on cleaning stuff, a new vacuum, a Swiffer, and various other things I’ll need at the new place. I did a pretty good job of writing everything down today as I thought of them.

Tomorrow I’m going to clean the whole place down because there are some pretty dusty places here and there. I desperately need to get a haircut tomorrow too!

I’ve posted pictures of the new duplex before anything was moved in.

Home Sweet Home

DuplexI found a place to live! 2317 Congress. For those of you familiar with Saginaw, go south on Bay Road past State Street, take a left on Congress and it’s about two blocks down on the right hand side.

It’s a nice little two bedroom with a carport. The living room and one of the bedrooms have a nice hardwood floor, the other bedroom and hallway have nice carpetting, and the kitchen and dining room don’t have the greatest floor but it’s fine for me. It’s freshly painted, has washer and dryer hookups, and a nice little bathroom. It’ll be the perfect little place for me. For the time being I’ll just use the second bedroom for my computer shit and storage, but will most likely get someone to move in with me in a few months. I’m excited!

After looking for only a week, I was sick of searching through the paper, calling people up, and going to see places. Not my idea of a fun time. The landlord is really nice and is going to hold it for me for three weeks, so that works out well. I’ll only have to pay rent on two places for 2 weeks and then I’ll be out of here and into the new place.

A Place To Call Home

I’ve started the search for a place to live. It sucks…looking through the paper or MLive, calling people, asking questions, scheduling times to take a look at the place. What a pain in the ass!

I’ve decided on getting a 2 bedroom duplex. That would give me the option of having someone move in with me in a few months. It will also most likely get me a garage and a place for the washer and dryer, which will be nice to have. Living by myself is really going to cut into my funds though. Heather and Katie will be leaving at the end of April so I have a month and a half, but it’s getting stressful already and I’ve only been looking for 2 days.

I was thinking about trying to get a place with a shorter lease (like 3 or 6 months), but decided that would be next to impossible. If I end up getting a new job somewhere I can always get a sub-leasor.
