2005 WSOP on ESPN

I finished watching the the broadcasts of the Main Event of the 2005 World Series of Poker a couple of weeks ago. I was only 3 months late, but that’s the beauty of having a DVR. I enjoyed the coverage more than the last two years and I’ll even admit that I enjoyed watching Mike […]

Lederer and Duke Deal with NBC?

Do Howard Lederer and his sister Annie Duke have a deal with NBC? On this season of Las Vegas they’ve both appeared in different episodes. Annie made a short appearance about two months ago and Howard played a much bigger role in an episode last night. I find it odd there have been two poker pros on the show this year and they just happen to be brother and sister. Or maybe I’m just looking to start a conspiracy theory…

Taking a Break

Lately I have been taking a break from all types of poker, online, casino, everything. The only poker in my life as of now is the WSOP on ESPN. Even though I already know what happens and who makes it how far, I still need to watch and enjoy the plays being made. I’m sure poker will be coming back into my life very soon, but for now, there isn’t much going on.

Cable TV Upgrades

Yesterday a couple of guys from Charter Communications came by to upgrade my cable TV. I now have DTV, DVR, and HDTV. So far it’s been great and bad.

Good news first. I’m not quite sure how I’ve lived so long without some type of DVR. I’ve already recorded several movies I want to see, but never got around to renting. Having all of the movie channels will be one of my favorite things. I’ve scheduled all of my favorite shows to record each week. In fact, I might not watch live television much anymore except for sporting events. I have a thing against watching sports after they actually happen. By recording all of my shows and then watching them later I can save 15 minutes of my time for every hour of programming. Talk about convenient. Being able to pause live TV or replay something is another of my favorite features.

Favorite TV Show Ever

Earlier today I overheard this walking by one of the student lounges…

I don’t know how anyone can concentrate when the Price is Right is on. It’s the best show ever.

So it got me thinking, what is my favorite TV show of all-time. I think I’d have to go with MacGyver. I loved watching that show. No matter what the situation, MacGyver could rig something up with a ballpoint pen and gum wrapper. In another year I’ll most likely have to change my fav to CSI, but I’ve only been watching it for 6 months, which is too early to tell.

What’s your favorite show?

Madden? Excuse Me?

John Madden will be moving from ABC to NBC after this year.

John Madden is the best analyst in the history of the National Football League and, in my opinion, the best analyst of any kind in sports television history.

Dick Ebersol

What did he say? Is there anyone out there who actually enjoys listening to John Madden? If so, please raise your hand so we can all throw rocks at you.

Spiked

Spike TV is quickly becoming my favorite television station. I’ve been watching a lot of TV over the last week and can’t get enough CSI. Spike usually has 2 episodes every night. I wish I had started watching this show a low earlier than just a few weeks ago.
