Basement Wall Collage

Our stairs are up against the foundation, giving us a big wall facing the rest of the basement. We figured we might as well turn it in to a collage and we have a pretty good start.

My favorites are:

  1. The display case with a lot of my Barry Sanders football card collection.
  2. Tiger Woods in his Sunday red (from IKONICK).
  3. Amon Ra’s headstand touchdown celebration (from Fathead).

Some other things:

  • The golf bag is an old Ram one we bought with clubs from an estate sale. Brandi cleaned it up and it makes a good display piece.
  • Coors Light was my beer of choice through college and my 20s.
  • Do I really need to say anything about Mountain Dew?
  • GO LIONS!

It’ll be cool to keep filling up the wall and then wrap it around the corner to the door and bathroom wall. We definitely need to pick up something Michigan and put up some personal photos.

Improving Twilight

Last week I posted a picture, Twilight Golf, and a couple of days later changed the picture. I had been messing around with different filters in Camera+ and found one that added some definition to the trees. It only took a few seconds to try the filters and I think it was really worth it.

As a comparison, here is the original iPhone picture:

Overall it’s pretty shitty. You can’t see the awesome clouds and there is no definition in the trees. Not at all what I was looking for out. I always have HDR enabled on my iPhone, which gives a better picture 95% of the time for me. Here’s the HDR image:

Huge improvement! You just have to hold the camera steady a bit longer than normal and the iPhone snaps off 3 images (under and over exposed) then combines them. Finally, by using the Clarity Scene filter in the Camera+ app I was able to get this:

Best one yet and not bad for someone who knows very little about taking pictures.. I’m sure a photo expert could get something better in Photoshop after a couple of minutes, but I’ll stick with the filters in Instagram and Camera+.

Detroit Tigers Game

Comerica ParkYesterday I went to see the Detroit Tigers play the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park. The Tigers came away the winners by a final score of 18-1. Out of the eight innings the came up to the plate, Detroit scored in seven of those with a home run coming in each of the first four innings.

Before the game there was a Youth Clinic on the field, so all fans were allowed to walk around and see some of the players up close. I was amazed at how perfect the grass on the field was. I wished I had brought my pitching wedge with me to hit a few over the fences. The grass was immaculate.
