Buy Golf Balls on eBay

As technology gets better, prices go up. A box of a dozen golf balls can cost anywhere from $10 to $50. You hit these balls once or twice and they’re no longer new. But guess what…the majority of us hackers will keep playing that used ball until it’s in the water or we lose it in the rough. I’d bet that over 95% of the time we’re hitting “used” golf balls on the course. So why do most people continue to buy new golf balls at some of the outrageous prices?

eBayA couple of years ago I started to buy my golf balls on eBay several dozen at a time. I always go with balls that are in mint or AAA condition because they’ll rarely have any type of scratch or imperfection on them. Most of the time they’ll have some type of logo, but in reality they’re just another used golf ball that someone smacked a couple of times and then hit it the water or lost in the rough. At half the price or less I’ll gladly buy these balls.

One particular seller I’ve had great luck with on eBay is Knet Golf, but there are many more golf balls on eBay.

Best Golf to Watch

I always enjoy watching the Masters. It’s unlike any other golf tournament and I think a lot of it has to do with the green jackets of Augusta National Golf Club. The TV coverage provided is better than any other sports event the world has to offer. Sometimes they don’t have any commercials at all, but they’ll usually stick to a maximum of 2 minutes of commercial time for every hour of coverage. You can’t beat it.

Is the Masters Tournament over-hyped? Probably. Do I care? No. The pros don’t seem to care either. They all look forward to the Masters because of it’s history and the special honor of wearing a green jacket if they end up with the best score on Sunday afternoon.

What’s your favorite golf tournament to watch and why?

Marching On

I love the month of March for two reasons. March Madness and the coming of warmer Michigan weather.

The month of March is heaven for college basketball fans and NCAA bball just happens to be my favorite sport to watch. The teamwork, intensity, atmosphere, and everything about the game draws me in. I’ve already been tuned in to a lot of the conference championship games from last weekend and I’m about to start filling out my bracket. When you have your pride and money on the line in a bracket pool it makes you so much more interested in the outcomes of every single game. The eventual NCAA champ will need to win their final 6 games of the season before they can cut down the nets on the first Monday in April.

Nicer Michigan weather means I start to get the golf itch. Golf is my favorite sport to play as I keep getting older, because it’s a game most people can play most of their life. It’s you against the course out there. There is a lot of skill to the game, but also a lot of luck and mental toughness to it as well. I’ve already planned a trip down to Indiana or however far south we need to drive in order to play some golf. My Dad, a few of his friends, and I will be making the trip at the end of the month to wet our appetites before we can start hitting the links here a few weeks afterwards. With the changes I’ve made to my diet and workouts I’m really looking forward to the effects it will have on my golf game.

Indiana Instead

Looks like I won’t be making a trip to Myrtle Beach. I’ll be hitting up Indiana (or however far South we need to drive for good weather) instead. My Dad, a couple of his friends, and I will be making a 4 day trip at the end of the month. Now that something is scheduled I need to start working on my swing. I bought a weighted club the other day and plan to use it for 10-15 minutes a few times a week. Also visited the new golf center on Sunday and will be buying a range membership there so I can start hitting some balls.

My main goal for this year is to shorten my golf swing. During lessons last year I saw my swing for the first time. To say that I have a huge swing is an understatement. A guy’s body shouldn’t be able to twist and bend that far back. It brings all kinds of other problems into my swing and really makes golfing inconsistent for me.

I’ve changed my eating and workout habits over the last 6 weeks so I’m looking for improvements in my golf game there as well.

Thinking About a Myrtle Beach Vacation

I’m thinking about a vacation to Myrtle Beach in the next month or two. Michigan weather is getting to me and I’m getting the golf itch. I’m interested in hearing from some people who have made a trip there in the last year or two. Where did you get your package through? What are the best places for your money? What should I look for? Thanks in advance!

Tiger Wins Over 25% of His PGA Events

With this weekends win at the Doral Ford Championship Tiger Woods now has 48 career PGA Tour victories in what is his 10th year on the tour. Over this time he’s entered a total of 189 tournaments which equates to a win percentage of 25.39%. That’s quite an amazing stat if you ask me. It’s unthinkable to imagine someone beating the best golfers in the world on such a consistent basis in today’s age of golf technology. Tiger is truly a freak of nature and one hell of a golfer.

X-Out Golf Balls

Ever wonder exactly what an X-Out golf ball is? Why are they sold so cheap?

X-Outs are name-brand golf balls on which that brand has been stamped out, usually with a row of X’s, because of imperfections in the ball. Those imperfections are often cosmetic in nature, and usually so small as not to be noticeable. The balls usually play the same as their counterparts, or at least close enough that most recreational players could never tell the difference.

Sasquatch Siting

Nike Sasquatch DriverI’ve written about the Nike Sasquatch driver before, but I finally saw it in person this weekend for the first time when I was at Dick’s Sporting Goods. The driver has one of the biggest heads on a golf club that I’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the lightest drivers I’ve held in my hands. The sweet spot on the Sasquatch has to be huge, so I don’t know how you could hit a bad shot with the thing. I bet I could hit a nice 100 yard slicer with it though. That’s how much “control” I have in my swing. They are really hyping this club up so when you get a chance check it out.

Sorenstam, Creamer, and Wie Rank 1, 2, and 3

The first Woman’s World Golf Ranking came out this morning. Sorenstam at the top of the list was no surprise. Having Michelle Wie debut at the third position was a bit odd since she has only played in 15 tournaments during the past two years, which is the time period used for the ranking. It’s nice to finally see a world ranking like the men have had for some time.

Hybrid Clubs

Travelling Golfer pointed out an article from Pub Links Golfer Magazine Online about hybrids. In today’s market, the hybrid clubs are quickly becoming a popular part of most golf club sets. Last year I replaced 3 of my long irons with hybrids and experienced great results. You’ll want to read the article for the full info, but here are a few highlights…

Historically, long irons have been the most difficult clubs to hit for both recreational golfers and touring professionals.

Hybrid clubs make the game so much easier and enjoyable that it’s amazing to consider they barely existed only a few years ago.

Today’s new-look hybrids account for close to 20 percent of the total metal wood market. As the category grows, so do the options in terms of performance, head styling, loft and trajectory. Hybrids give golfers the ability to dial in long-game distances and ball flights much like wedges do for our short game.
