The full ESPN broadcast schedule for the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has been announced.
50th
I finished 50th out of 144 in the charity tournament in memory of Charlie Tuttle being held today on Poker Stars. Not too bad considering I didn’t get to my computer until a few minutes ago (I was out golfing), just after the 49th place player went out. Yep…I never played a hand and just […]

Poker Blogging Goes Big
Two words sum up why poker in 2005 may be a victim of its own recent success:
Spoiler Alert.
With the main event climaxing this weekend, there is no way the new legion of poker fans don’t find out who the new champ is by Monday morning.
You could try to avoid it, to be able to maintain some suspense when the 2005 edition of the WSOP TV series starts up on ESPN soon…
…But that’s not going to happen when every media outlet has a poker columnist and a new cottage industry of poker blogging has emerged.
Digging Adsense
I’m digging the new Google Adsense interface. Reports and channel data are easier than ever to access.
WordPress Database Backup Plugin
Tired of having to manually backup your WordPress database? Do you even back it up? Worry no more…
Skippy has created an awesome plugin for WordPress. It’s called WordPress Database Backup. With a few clicks you can either download a backup of your database or have it sent attached to an email. It’s a very quick and simple process. In addition, if you have Skippy’s WP-Cron plugin installed, you’ll get a bonus option for the WordPress Database Backup. Under Manage->Backup in your WP admin screen you’ll have the opportunity to schedule a daily backup of your database.
I’ve been helping Skippy do some testing and I have to say that it has worked great so far. I’ve setup a seperate Gmail account that I’m using solely to store the backups of my 3 WordPress sites. Talk about a good use for all of those Gmail invites! If you’d like an account, just let me know. Each night at midnight, my WP installs fire off an email with a zipped up copy of my database. I never have to worry again about losing my posts and comments.
One For Charlie
What are you doing on Sunday (July 17th) evening? There’s a poker tournament in memory of Charlie Tuttle being held on Poker Stars at 6PM EST. It’s $20 and all entry fees will go to a foundation selected by Charlie’s family. Pauly has more info. Iggy will be giving out 2004 WSOP DVDs to the top 4 finishers.
Debt Free-er
Each year at the beginning of July, the interest rate can change on my student loans. For the past few years that rate has dropped, but this year it reached a high point by increasing nearly 2%. When I found this out over the weekend I was pissed. I’d show them!
I scheduled a payment for over $5K that should go through today. Buh-bye student loans! My bank account is a lot lighter, but it feels damn good to get closer to being debt free. All I have left now is the auto loan on my Trailblazer. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s owing money. Thanks to a good year with my web sites and playing online poker, I’ve been able to take some large chunks out of that debt.
Tony's Flakes
As a kid, Frosted Flakes were my favorite cereal. After not having eaten them for years I forgot how good they were. “They’re G-R-R-R-EAT!”
Long Week
I just realized this will be my first full 5 day work week in nearly 2 months. The past 7 have all been short weeks due to holidays, vacation, jury duty, sick time, etc. It’s been nice to say the least.
