img_0190I’ve enjoyed several MythBusters marathons over the years and have been watching a lot of Adam Savage’s stuff through his TESTED YouTube channel with my new making hobbies. Adam is one of the most well-known makers in the world. I’ve learned a lot from watching some of his techniques, have been inspired by many of his builds, and have been following some of his ideas while building my workshop.

He tours doing a show called Brain Candy Live! with Michael Stevens, who runs a very popular YouTube channel of his own (Vsauce), with over 12.5 million subscribers. A couple of weeks ago I looked to see if they were coming to Michigan and not even 3 weeks later they were going to be in Midland. Rounded up some friends and we got tickets for yesterday’s show.

It was fun, with plenty of puns and cheesy jokes. The guys did a bunch of neat demos with some wow moments like this smoke ring.

    Saint Nicholas I believe.
  2. When was the last time you cried?
    It was probably tearing up during one of my TV shows, but no idea which would have been the last.
  3. Do you have kids?
    Hell no!
  4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
    I’d like to think so. Then I wouldn’t be myself though, so this question doesn’t really work.
  5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
    Never. 😉
  6. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
    It’s different for every person I meet.
  7. What is your eye color?
    Green.
  8. Scary movie or happy endings?
    Happy endings.
  9. Favorite smells?
    Tough one. Gasoline for a short whiff. Mom’s fresh-baked bread. A good meal. I’m sure I’m drawing a blank on some really good stuff.
  10. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
    Sofia, Bulgaria.

Creative Wiring

On Saturday I went to help my brother move a thermostat and fix a bit of wiring. You’ll never guess where this cord leads…

The cord (hidden behind the dish washer) takes electricity up to a switch by the kitchen sink, which feeds down to wires under the sink. The wires were laying there with wire nuts. Obviously this was meant for controlling the garbage disposal, so we installed a GFCI outlet and now they can turn it on like you’re supposed to.

I’m come across some weird shit in my old 1979 house, but never anything quite like this. What’s the weirdest wiring configuration you’ve seen?

Justice & Ragnarok

Went to the Justice League last night.

I enjoyed it. It wasn’t Wonder Woman or Marvel good, but this makes 2 solid DC movies in a row.

Saw Thor: Ragnarok on opening weekend a couple of weeks ago, but never mentioned it.

It was a really fun movie. Marvel has been killing it. Which reminds me I need to watch the new Punisher series on Netflix.
