The stairs, moldings, trim, and doors in this area all seem to be different colors and patterns. The big tile is the old floor.

Don’t be afraid to go on the darker side. Esp if your house has a lot of natural light. We went with a dark shade in our house and it looks awesome. But looked frighteningly dark when only on a small swatch of wood…
