Trying to Recover

Originally I took Thursday, Friday, and Monday off because I have 230 hours of vacation saved up at work. Yes, you read that right, 230 hours or nearly 6 weeks. I had plans to do some things around my place and enjoy the warm weather Michigan finally was going to get. I was also coming up to Rogers City for the weekend (I’m here now) to golf with Dad and visit Mom for Mother’s Day.

I had only taken one vacation day (the day I bought my TrailBlazer) in the last 5or 6 months, so I was long over due and really looking forward to it. Wednesday at work I felt sore all over so I thought I might be coming down with something. I hadn’t slept well the night before, so I kind of brushed the thoughts aside thinking I might just be tired.

When I got home it hit me like a ton of bricks. I got a huge headache, I was burning up, my throat was getting scratchy, I was more sore than the whole day, and I was feeling weak as shit. Great, I finally take some vacation and I get sick.

It’s now Saturday night (or early Sunday morning depending on how you look at it) and I’m still sick. In preparation for golfing today I was cleaning my clubs at the sink. All of the sudden I got light headed as if I was going to pass out, so I went to the couch. After laying down for a few minutes I told Dad I didn’t know if I would be able to go. I thought about it, downed some more food and decided to go out. I hadn’t spent much time with my Dad recently and I also didn’t want to mess up the number of golfers. It’s a little hard to make up some teams for gambling with only 7 guys. Once we were out on the course I felt great. The weather warmed up and the sun came out later on in the afternoon for a beautiful day on one of the top rated courses in the state of Michigan. I think the fresh air did me some good.

I think I’m about done rambling on. I sure do hate being sick though. You can’t do what you want and you feel like shit. It’s been well over a year since I’ve been so sick that it’s affected me for more than a day or two. I hope it’s a couple of more years before I get anything like this again. What am I talking about? I haven’t even gotten rid of this bug yet. I’m going to bed…

  1. I’m hoping by now you’re all good. I had a headache yesterday, but fortunately that’s been the extent of it. I’m glad I haven’t gotten hit with anything in awhile, or else I’d be totally useless.
