Or am I?
On Tuesday night I finally cleared the 2250 raked hands for the MultiPoker signup bonus. It took me a week. Ridiculous! I’m definitely not taking advantage of the reload bonus they’re running right now. 20x raked hands. That’ll take forever. Tuesday was one of those nights where you wonder how you don’t lose your whole bankroll. I couldn’t get a hand to hold up. Big slick only flopped top pair once out of 8 times. Mrs. Slick did it one out of four. Cowboys were 0-2 as were the ladies. I played for a about three hours or so. Finally around midnight I cleared the bonus and cashed out. Considering how my good starting hands performed, I was glad to only lose 20 big bets for the session. During my stay at MultiPoker I finished $0.04 ahead. Woohoo!! I was up over 70 BB about halfway through the bonus clearing, but went a little downhill from there.
Now it’s on to Empire Poker for the monthly reload bonus. I deposited last night and was able to clear 1/5 of the 1050 required raked hands in under 2 hours, so it should only take me another day or two to finish that up. I think I won just over 20 BB for the session. Hand of the night was pocket sixes. I he, I flopped a set or full house. On one particular hand the flop came QQ6. We capped the betting all the way to the river, with one other player coming through the turn and folding the river. That pot was almost 30 BB alone and my sixes beat his AQ. I also flopped quads when I held rockets. Another player had cowboys and hit his kings full of aces on the river. Capped betting again. That’s always nice when you’re holding the nuts.
My bankroll must be near $1,000 now, which is nice. Depending on how I do this weekend at the casino, I should be moving up to $1/2 next week. The bankroll is improving (thanks to bonuses), but my play really hasn’t been. While clearing the MultiPoker bonus, I found that I stopped reviewing my play with Poker Tracker Guide. Results don’t lie. I’ve been leaking away bets and coming out about even for this period. I plan to go back and review my play from the last week or so, but I already know what I’ll find. I’m betting out too often when AK and AQ don’t hit their flop and I’m not getting away from my big pocket pairs enough when the flop has over cards and there is action from the other players. Those two leaks alone are costing my bankroll precious bets. Now I just need to plug the leak.
I’m really looking forward to some live play in the casino on Saturday. The last time I played a live ring game was on New Year’s Eve. If the experience is good this weekend I think I’ll be making more trips to Mt. Pleasant since it’s only 45 minutes away.
Have fun plugging your leaks. Also I live 5 minutes from Commerce, but still fly to Vegas 3 to 4 times a year.
