Lack of Personal Updates

You may have noticed a lack of personal updates here at the MDV. Seriously, there really hasn’t been much exciting going on, but here’s what I’ve been up to the last couple of days.

For the past two weeks I’ve been busy working on my web sites, upgrading WordPress installations, writing plugins, and helping out in general with WP. During this time, I actually took a week off from playing poker, but over the past few days have gotten back to it. For more on poker, head over to 2 Hole Cards.

In other news, on Friday night we had our first playoff game for the township basketball league. Only 5 guys showed up for our team and we got our asses handed to us by about 15 points. During the game I was given the first Technical foul of my life. It was pretty cheap too. All I said was, “Now you call a foul.” I wish I had at least yelled one of the 4 letter word at the ref to get my money’s worth. I’m actually glad our season is over now. We never really hit all cylinders or played a complete game as a team, so it wasn’t much fun this year.

After the game on Friday, I went out bowling and to RJ’s for Mo’s 24th birthday. To tell you the truth, I can’t remember the last time I hit up one of the bars in Saginaw, so it was fun to be out with some good friends. Mo and I took 2nd in darts, so I was 0-2 in competition. I only had 3 beers for the night, but woke up with a headache, which goes to show how much drinking I’ve done over the last couple of months.

One thing not drinking does though is save me money. I now have less than a month left on the lease of my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, so I’m all about saving money these days. The original plans were to get a 2003 GMC Envoy, but everyone and their brother wants one these days. I’ve had a car dealer from up north going to auctions for a few weeks and he hasn’t been able to find what I wanted for the price I wanted yet. In fact, the prices have gone up $1,500 since he first started looking. The demand is high for Envoys and the supply is low. It’s really a simple equation, but sucks that everyone else wants what I want. I’ve opened up my options for a 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer now. The two SUVs are very similar and drive better than other SUVs I’ve driven. The only real differences between the TrailBlazer and the Envoy are body style, options, and of course price. In a few weeks I should be cruising in my own ride under my own insurance for the first time in my life.

So there you have it…a couple days in the life of me.
