On-line poker is not rigged.Most peolpe dont understand what seems to be a countless number of badbeats is due to the increase in hands seen per hour.Also keep in mind the donkey factor.People will play hands that they would be too embarrassed to play in a live game.You do have to adjust your game especially when playing multiple tables at once.On-line poker is still a great way to increase your income for any good player.You dont even have to be good,just a little above average.

My take on internet poker is that it is a bogus scam.
Won’t go into hand structures and things like that even tho these arguments are valid. Internet poker is what happens when a highly profit oriented biz operates in a totally unregulated environment. I have bantered this with many players and the arguments don’t hold up.
Argument 1: The sight is regulated by the kauwakanna (or whatever) gaming commision of Canada.
response-Who pays the regulatory agency to regulate and how much weight do they carry in central America.
Argument 2-You see more bad beats because you see more hands per hour.
Response-You see a higher percentage of bad beats regardless of the total number of hands.
Argument3-They wouldn’t dare to run a crooked site-if they were found out they would be ruined.
Response-Very difficult to “prove” since anything can happen on any given hand so the chance of concrete proof is minimal and profit (maximum) outweighs the risk (minimal).
In the long run it is very similar to a slot machine. There are winners and there are losers-but the house sets the odds and wins most of the money in the long run.
By design good play is not rewarded consistently. If this were to happen then good players would run over 90 percent of the sites clientelle in very short order. This would be bad for the site since the fish would get eaten too quickly and wouldn’t rebuy.
I could rattle on for ever but it would do little good. My grandfather had a saying about advise-smart people don’t need it and fools won’t take it. For what its worth my advise is don’t play real money internet poker other than for entertainment. Its fun-its entertaining but it isn’t poker.

I wanted to say i have been playing online and i am 1000000% sure online is rigged. Iuse to play on fulltilt and pokerstars which both sites cheat. If you are playing online stop. I realize online has no comparison to live play. I been playing poker going on 6 years and the stuff they pull on these sites is crazy. Thank god bush passed that law to ban online gambling.

First off all, sorry if my English it’s not good enough (I’m not an English speaker).
Been playing for a while now in online poker, “I’m not a pro just an amateur” and well it seems there are lots of incredible joking rivers constantly. My last one: (I had 55) flop qq5 the other guy had Q3 or so cant remember, anyway he went all in so I did, THE RIVER WAS A Q!!!!!!! What a joke! lucky me it was just a 3 pounds turnament! Joking river mafia server!
Also when I used to play 1 on 1, they keep you playing and playing keeping money circulating, after 30min about the both are losing money…
Maybe i’m a bit paranoic but when you withdrawal some money then it’s much harder to win.
Provably it’s me that I’m a bad player…

maybe it’s rigged….maybe it’s not…but, can anyone tell me the possibility of getting dealt JJ 3 times in 30 minutes and getting all in against AA twice and AK once…….and obviously the flop coming out AKK on the third hand….? No proof but sounds a little too peculiar…..don’t you think? I am not complaining or anything but….geeze….if it’s not rigged that is the worse cold deck I have ever seen…

It feels like its rigged sometimes but dont agree that it is. Like a few have said you see alot more hands. If I lose to running cards in live games, I don’t shout at the dealer, even though i would like to smash his brains in.
I use pokertracker so can analyse my hands, i play around 40k hands a month. over a year period and close to 500k hands, you can see all the swings. Try and play that many hands live – you`ll see some beats. Im a winning pro online player, but adapting to be a live pro, as the usa will prob ruin it and shut down all poker sites eventually. Which will make most of the bitter people above happy.
in my opinion, some of the best cash online players will go on and be the players around in live environment. just through sheer hands played, look at patrick antonius beating the big game now.

Look me up on sharkscope. It will tell you I’m the biggest loser. I beg to differ.
I signed up for pokerstars and placed 2nd in a $4 buy in the first game I played. After that, nothing but lose. Reloaded the same day, lost it all again. Reloaded, won some lost it all. I folded 48 hands in a row on one sng. When I cought AK AQ or AJ, the board was paintless and low. Turn? low. River, blank. When I did pick it up, the board was screaming straight or flush and I would usually lose. AK agains 33? no problem. The board would come up blank or a 3 would hit. Trips? no no sir, a better set or flush beats your trips and so does a straigt full-house or quads, made on the river. I’ve been pummeled and beaten more times than I care to admit, yet I can count the times on a carpenters hand that i’ve left a brick and mortar with less than i entered. Yes it’s rigged. I’ve lost 500 bucks now, and am quiting. I am a good player and I know it. On-line I just can’t win no matter how I change up my play. On-line poker is written and controlled by a corporation so their interest is making money, plain and simple not letting skill dominate the tables.
I have 30 bucks left and I’m cashing out never to look back on on-line poker again. I suggest you all do the same

It’s rigged. The positive posts are transparently coming from the gambling sites. Who would be posting here if they are making a killing online? Matusow lost half a million playing online in six months. Of course, he’s a terrible player, right?

There is no way it’s not rigged. I’ve only lost about $150 at full tilt and I’m going to cut my losses and never pump more money into these sites again. Samething with me, after I deposit I win, get my bank roll up nice then after a few weeks of being up it’s nothing but suck outs, bad beats and just hands that should HAVE NEVER HAVE WON. It’s not real poker folks!!! If you live away from a casino start your own game with friends or join face book and find poker games in your area. If you live in the bush or have no friends find a different hobby and save your money.

I have started playin poker for about a year now and after studying the strategies of pros and learning what hands should be played at what times, I began playin small tournies with my friends, one per week. 3 out of 5 times i won so thats good. I decided to play for money online,BIG MISTAKE!! My first small deposit of 20 bux brought me almost 110 dollars because of my strategy and good cards came. But like the saying goes pride comes before the fall. All of a sudden my starting hands became really horrible. At one point out of 40 or so hands in a row I either got low crap or a high card with a shitty kicker such as an ace 6 or queen 5. Whats even more amazing was the hands people were calling me with. AA raise preflop called with 5 10 offsuit only to lose to a 2 pair on the flop, KK goin all in against AA. Whenever I had queens or jacks the person who always calls my raise or all in has a KA or KK or even AA.
Whenever the player has an AK the Ace or the king ALWAYS hits. My starting hands such as JJ 1010 or QQ rarely hold up because there’s always an ace on the board and I never hit flushes despite havin 2 suited pocket cards and another 2 matching suits on the flop. But…when someone else just goes on a flush draw, turn or river gives it to the donk.
In another play i had J 10 suited and the flop was 6 4 king. Guy bet a small amount and I knew he had bullshit otherwise he wouldve bet big to scare any drawing hands. I called him and on the turn it was a 10,giving me a flush draw and a decent pair. Guy goes all in and I decide to call because i had decent outs. He reveals his cards and it turns out he had a 5 8 of spades, and the river gives him a seven. Despite havin only 2 outs, he hit his miracle card and brags about how awesome his play was. I almost smashed the monitor because this was only one of the many incidents that occur on bodog. Bodog is donk heaven but how can i win when they keep sucking out with whatever they have. Too many times have i seen pocket kings against pocket aces and at one point i had to fold pocket jacks because it was obvious the 2 people before me had AA and KK. Another thing that i realize is when im losing, Its over!! Hands like A J or AK never hit and only low cards come up on the board, wasted money. After losin all the money i deposited I thought that maybe if I play more strickly i’ll be doing better. I actually did do better, going from 50 to 195 which is good for a player like me. Once it got up to 195 it was all over. Suckout after suckout until I went down to about 30 dollars. Then I was pretty much going up and down at that point until my three of a king was busted by a river flush. What an awesome way lose money. Pretty much after that point I deposited about a 150 dollars more over the course of a couple of weeks and right now I can only describe to you how the money looked like.
My account is down to zero,will I deposit again? Hell no, enough is enough. Too many times have donks hit and mocked my good plays. Too many times have I lost to garbage hands. Im down about 250 and im quiting while my losses are small because I know that i would lose it eventually. Are the sites legit? Hell no!!!
1) the sites are not even in the US. No regulation at all.
2) they are online and you dont know what software is being run.
3) Too many straights or flushes, and the river runs with blood!!! Despite the fact that there are way more hands played in online than live poker, it doesnt mean that every time i go in with a strong hand, and Im a patient guy, I lose to w/er cards the donk has. More hands per hour but that doesnt mean my quad 9’s get to be screwed by quad queens. Only in online poker have i gotten 2 royal flushes. In live poker, the highest hand one of my friends ever hit was quads.
people say that poker sites are legit because they have a lot to lose. Think of it….online poker is habit forming and people still play it even if they think it is rigged. I found out it was rigged right after I lost my first deposit but still played for a little longer because I was addicted. Casinos definitely rig pots because for a casino there is no such thing as too much money. Sorry for boring you with this post and I definitely pointed out things that already have been said but I just wanted to express my frustration for these crooked sites. I will satisfy myself by playing with my friends from now on, at least I know they’re not cheating!!

yep, its fixed. i agree with you guys. last month i saw SEVEN four of a kinds in less then 2 1/2 hrs. on party poker. ??? on one hand i had a FH, another i had hi str8, again beaten by 4 of a kind, and then to see 5 more over the next 2 hours??? and some sites seem to let you win early, but you cant pull back your depo till you reach some set number of “points”, which means your back playin, trying to just build points so you can withdraw, and it all gets sucked away…you know the story. can we all be wrong? i think they dont care if we think its fixed or not, cuz there will always be players.(everyone knows slots are fixed-programmed with set odds-and there is no shortage of slot players) i dont even play for free online anymore. just no fun. and for people that say there are always bad beats cuz they see them on tv, realize, these are hi-lights they show from days of play. we see them every few minutes online. go to vegas or a clean home game, you never see action like online. they do it for the rake. and, ALL the online poker sites are registered in the same countries that most of the online scamming seems to be comming from. me, i have all the proof i need. so please, if you believe online poker is fair, then play away. enjoy.

I Love this thread. you guys confirm what ive strongly suspected for years. I Play online for fun from time to time, I usually deposit $50 and play a couple tournaments or some cash games and have done ok. I get up usually then the axe falls and its suckout after suckout runner runner, wtf was he even in that hand for with 6 9 in a reraised pot…
a couple months ago I deposited my $50 after having not played for many months because i found a poker room near my house. and yatzeee i hit a 24+2 for first place. 3500 bucks. i almost began to think maybe it aint rigged.
that same night i saw matusow on a 25/50 nl table and there was a open seat…
i began to get butterflys. ive played with pros in tournaments i satelited into before but a cash game 6 handed with the mouth. and i got 3500 in my acct. wow i really must like poker cuz i got a chubby.
I sat down with my whole roll and figured if i lose it…. wtf.
the table had a couple of highly aggresive players. raising with junk constantly so. i was praying to jesus for just a few good hands.
i guess FTP still had me on their returning player that needs some encouragment list cuz i was getting aces and paint left and right. in 15 minutes i was up to 10k. i was craping my pants. that might be chicken feed to alot of you guys but not to me.
I went to bed that night reliving every hand in my mind until the wee hours. thinking how i could take that bankroll and go down in limit and slowly build on it with solid tight aggresive play.
and about geting to play and talk with mike about those donkeys giving me their money LOL…he called em donkeys not me.
did ok for about a week. even won another 3000 in a 24+2 and got 23rd in one of the 750k tournaments for over 3k payday. busting layne flack and almost david chiu. the little punk bet %90 of his chips then folded to my reraise. cost me a bounty. i digress…
after that i couldnt win a pot that mattered no matter how good i got my chips in. the suckouts and bad beats were constant in the big pots.
i was at about 16k. but after 2 weeks of playing lower limits within my bankroll i was down to 10k. I felt like fish food plain and simple.
one hand that sticks out is my pocket 99 vs 10 7 flop Q9Q. i check, he bets, i raise, he calls. turn 10, I over bet the pot he calls. river you guessed it… 10… i am positive he has a 10 in the hole.. cuz its a huge pot and and would be the sickest runner runner suckout that had become so familiar lately.. unless he was slow playing pocket queens. i check. he goes all in for about %30 of whats in the pot. i call… runner runner for 10s full to beat my floped 9s full.
I cashed out my remaining 10k and am back to occasionally playing a tournament or low limit cash games just for fun.
Its to bad to. It would be the best method of being a poker pro in my opinion.. if you could get a legit game.

I have to say that I am also of the opinion that on-line poker is rigged, when I first started playing the game, I was playing exclusively ONLINE, to the effect I did not understand the percentages or pot odd’s basically I was crap, a newbie of the game. But strangely enough I would win constantly (finishing in the top 10percent) of low buy in tournaments (5-10dollers etc..) with over 1000+ runners. I thought I was a natural, until….. one day that was it, no more winning, but why…. I hadn’t changed anything… (I was still crap)
Naturally I read up on the game extensively, and I mean I read up….
Still nothing, bad beat after bad beat, like AA vrs 3,4, then of course runner runner, 44, time after time after time… this was becoming strange, but yes when I was inexperienced (new to the site / game) I was regularly call stupid draws and more often than not they would come in….
I was nearly at the point of giving up completely , then I started playing live…
Wow, now I am a constant winner, I mean yes I have bad spells, losing streaks where nothing will go right, but I don’t feel cheated…., which is one thing I cant say about on-line……
I have no doubt that “sites†are geared up to new sign-ups…, just pose the question next time you are way into a tournament: who is new to this site???, I bet you will be quite surprised (although its quite obvious, it the ppl getting the utterly unbelievable draws; constantly – I mean with 1-2k runners, realistically how many 50/50 draws do these guy get to get to that position???)

then how is it possible that some people make a living playing online poker at sites like pokerstars ultimate bet etc? if it was rigged seems unlikely that anyone could make much $$$ playing but i know two guys that do.

I’m totally convinced that online poker is fixed,and people who have been playing poker for any length of time figure this out within a few days of playing online.The only way i can see anyone winning at online poker is if for example at a six player table all six players know one another, maybe then skill would play its part. maybe some folks do win if no one else is allowed to join the table except for people they know. Online poker is just as fixed as pro wrestling, and still some folks you will never convince that wrestling is staged.and those poker stars that promote online poker make good money for their kind words. I too, will tell you that its a great place to play if they paid me thousands of dollars. The thing i am not so sure of is who is doing the rigging.Perhaps hackers rig the game and the poker site can’t stop it for whatever reason.think about it,if they told you that the site is often hacked would you play there? a lot of people who want to continue playing online don’t want to believe the fix is in because then they have no place to play. so into the sand the head goes.

i used to walk past the tables at the casino wishing i knew how to play poker, that is all online poker has tought me. its the best way to LEARN how to play so long as you read and watch pro video’s as well.
now for my experiences.

learning stage lost around $500. then one night i couldn’t lose any sit n go, i kept going up limits and cashed out $1000 in one night. after losing for what seems like months i banned myself

signed up my wife and we played together.
this time round the minimum deposit was $10. so i play for a couple of weeks and finally cash out $200
once again bang lights off.
