  1. Still any program that can control winning and losing to benifit the site is not fair to either side (winner or loser) and its definitely not poker. i play online a lot but only for free now, but anyone who plays alot can kinda get a sense that the program has complete control. Sometimes you can’t lose, doesnt matter what you do, (raise preflop w/nothing and get callers with legit hands and you flop a monster, or the opposite, see no hands for hours then the blinds get bigger and you get AA,AK,etc…or make a great call on a bluff only to lose on a miracle draw. seen it thousands of times from both sides.

Also like ben said in #56 its uncanny how many hands you get alike while playing multi tables or even weirder, table 1 i’ll have JQ and the flop on table 2 will be JJQ or something similar. and not just once in a while.

  2. Yeah i agree wit most of the people here.

Online poker is totally rigged and its a scam. Ive been playing poker for almost a year online now, and i consider myself to be very good playing live. But online: i just cant win no mather what i do. Like Sit n Go`s. I win a 2-table $22 with no problems at all. Suddenly i just lose and lose with the same $22 SNG 4-5 times in a row. Its like Partypoker wants their money back (the one i just won a few days ago). And next day, kabooom, i win $22 SNG easily. I get big hands after big hands, and no mather what the other players do, i win.

Other things thats wierd is that you NEVER EVER see the same good players at the final table. They are all participating, but the system wont let them get to the final table. Its like “You had your share of luck”.

And i cant even really explain how many stupid bad beats there is. KK AA gets beaten by QJ, TJ, 44… a lot of times. Or AK against a stupid hand such as Q9, and the flop comes QQ9. FULL HOUSE. Yeah right?!

ONLINE POKER IS RIGGED. STAY AWAY

  3. I’ve experienced much of what has been written here.

I started with a $20 bankroll and promptly turned that into $300 over the course of a week. The switch was then turned and the bankroll crashed to $5. Miraculously, they did not bust me out and I turned that roll into $1500 — this time slowly moving up levels — until the switch was turned and my monsters started getting called by multiple donks with sub-optimal hands (not even spec hands like suited connectors) who would always hit their 3 outers. Occasionally the program would mix it up a bit and I would never get action on my monsters but would always get called on bluffs by the “person” holding bottom pair or worse.

Whether the rooms/sites themselves are corrupt is still speculative, however there is rampant corruption amongst players in the form of collusion (see #20).

I’ve seen it happen. One time was particularly funny because I busted them on it. Smelling something fishy, and holding AA, I simply limp in. Player to my left then min raises and it is called back around to me by two others. I reraise, player to my left reraises me, then a call, an all in, I call AND PLAYER TO MY LEFT ( the shill ) FOLDS, followed by a call. Three in the pot including me and I ultimately win against QQ and 78 off suit. In the text box, one writes, “what?”, another “Oh no” and then all three immediately leave the table.

The other alarming thing I’ve noticed is the likelihood of “bots”, probably bots created by the sites themselves to boost table participation. They all seem to buy in with less than half.

One evening I decided to experiment and, at a table with three other players and myself, always let the timer expire close to zero ON EVERY HAND, no matter if I was folding preflop, on the flop, calling the turn, etc. NOT ONE PLAYER COMPLAINED. They just diligently went on with their play. Now you would think that after three hours of this going on one or more would leave, type “zzzzz”, etc. Nope, not a peep; they just kept playing their game.

Incidentally, after that episode, which costs the site money because less hands are played and therefore less rake, I immediately went on a terrible losing streak and busted out. I reloaded again for $20 a few weeks later and one the very first hand flopped a straight which lost an all in to someone who flopped a higher straight.

  4. Gotta love modern capitalism !

Always looking for the next new scam to rip off the masses . . .

Not a communist, but do feel that the current system rewards the scammers

  5. I’ve been playing online for about 2 years. I use no cheats, bots etc. Online is a different game to live, due to quantity of hands being played, especially if you multi-table you will see alot of cold decks. Just need to have good notes on the players and play good poker. I`ve made $500k this year, so its done me ok. I play 5/10 and 10/20 cash tables. The poker firms would not have so many customers if it was one big scam. Remember 90% of players are losing players, so you lot are prob in this quota.

  6. lol, that’s funny. Your right we’re just a bunch of cry babies on here crying about our bad beats. Please forgive us. First, i don’t believe you’ve made 1/2 a million dollars this year online, thats B.S. (i’ve made 3 million this month) Second, don’t know where u get 90% of players are losing players, maybe 90% of beginners, but not experienced players focused on winning. and oh your the 2nd person to post that online poker is legit out of 66. So the odds that your right is….. 3%.

  7. lol Steve, your’re funny also. like the way you reach 3%, note that the 66 people in this forum are mainly people that moan about online poker and have had bad experiences. Mainly losing players.

i like the comment ‘..but not experienced players focused on winning.’ Are inexperienced players focused on losing?

I’ve had bad beats (sickening infact) playing live ring games – i dont blame the dealer for base dealing everytime.

I`ve risen through the stakes to play in the big online games. You do need to be able to handle the swings, which can be huge and really affect your confidence. That’s where you bankroll is imperative.

  8. It is rigged to let the begginers move on, balance the tables, and entertainment value. How would it fx with a bunch of sharks and cheaters beating begginers continuosly? It wouldnt. This is why there are millions of people ‘still’ playing, not for long though. Eventually new players will get cycled through and quit and word will get around, like it is now, and people wont bother, and the fad will die.

  9. Big Bill Oreilly and Fox always looking out for the little guy. Fox sports channel has been airing all year Mansion Poker Dome on Sunday nights. They say it is free yet they made it real difficult to qualify for there tournaments unless you pay on Mansion Poker.com. I had to cancel my credit card due to fraudulent charges they made on it. They will not pay the money I won in there games or let me play in the Poker Dome tournament I paid to qualify in. It is well known on the internet that they do not pay. I have emailed Fox executives before on this and they never even bothered to return my emails. I guess that’s how you look out for the little guy by continuing to promote there site.

  11. ofcourse online poker is a scam. the ones saying that its not a scam, are the ones cheating and or affiliated with the poker rooms in question. I myself have played at every major poker room on the net and have lost at everyone of them… YES bad beats do happen at real tables, but how often do you see it? alot more often online.. iv used Neteller, Click2Pay,Firepay, etc, etc.. to fund my poker accounts i’v lost thousands of dollars in the past year and now all these funding sources call me atleast once a day to collect on debt… BUT GUESS WHAT, there is no debt.. the reason is that the poker rooms and funding sources are all in it together. once you fund your poker account, the source you went through just got payed triple the amount you diposited from the poker room you played at… look at it this way. why are there such places like neteller or click2pay? why would somebody go through them to pay for something other then online gambling and pay a huge fee when all they have to do is use there bank account or credit card an not be charged any fee’s. i owe over $5,000 to the funding sources iv just talked about and guess what….. THEY AINT GETTIN DIME FROM ME, i told um to go get it from the poker rooms that conned me out of it, and they shut up real quick after i told them i had proof..

I WILL SHUT THESE POKER ROOMS DOWN… I WILL PROVE THEY ARE SCAMS…. and i WILL sue the living daylights out of the funding sources that alow the average working person to get screwed through online poker..

  12. I will tell you guys something about online poker. Everybody is just about right its part legit, part scam and all are full of cheaters. I used to for work for partypoker.com once I found out how easy it was to take massive amounts money from players at online poker sites …. just put it this way I havent work in four years and I make about 1000% more than I ever made at any job. One guy mentioned a boiler room where people get together and cheat the online poker players .. We call it the Bakery… get it Chips, bread, dough.. it all relates to money! Anyways me and 5 business patners have the set up 22 monitors, a network with about 2000 GB of space , etc. We have the works and tapped into the major sites Partypoker, Pokerstars, Mansion, Titian, Doyles and Absolute. It started out small $100 or $200 and some days were hit and miss but just like everything else practice makes perfect. (An average day now is about $4000.00) You ask how? I’ll tell you… With the setup we have one guy can control up to six seats at one table theres just about no way to lose. If you every get a chance watch some tables where the sit down is a $500 or $1000 min. most likely one of us will be on it. All need is to get started is about four PCs network ,couple of different I.P address, wireless modems and a business account that you and your buddies are on. Thats all … sorry if this upsets anyone But … well you know.

  14. Hello Matteus,

If you make $4k/day and be consisent thats great. But $4k is an average day we have made as much as $65k in one day. I am not bragging or trying to rub it in anyones face I just wanted to let some people know that there is some major cheating going on and I guess in way by saying it, it ease’s my conscience a bit. Good Luck to you Matteus

  15. In regards to online poker being rigged as not as many hands come out in reality as opposed to online – think about the law of averages? If you flip a coin 50 times, it may come up heads:tails @ 15:35. If you flip the coin 500000000 times it’s going to be allot closer to 50/50 isn’t it? Allot more hands being dealt means each combo appears allot more!

^^ Just my 2c for what it’s worth (not much ;))

In regards to brians comments above – you are just trying to talk it up in my opinion – no one cares that you cheap honest players – myself included out of their hard earned (or not so hard :p ) cash!

No one gives a flying f*ck mate how much you can *STEAL* in a day – good for you!

  16. Wow… this is true. I did the same about 6 month ago with a business account. I had one poker site a two buddies and i would play at. We each were on the bank account which allowed us to fund our accounts. We had one cable modem, one dsl, and one dial-up (at first). This gave us each seperate IP addresses and differnet speeds to “mix it up”. We then would sit at the same table. To avoid security, which does exist on the poker site, we simply would play like we would any other card game, but we know each other’s hole cards. Example: p1 AK, p2, Q3, and p3 89 (suites don’t matter in this example)… flop comes K 9 10. As you can see, we all had some piece of this flop such as draws or high pair… this is where the “bumping” the pot would come in. AK is the dominating hand… but if some loser came in we would just play hard and raise… get the picture. At the end of the day, several hundreds of dollars could be made. Best day was over $10,000 (50/100 NL).

Is online poker a scam… NO (if you know how to play the table)
