I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving today!!

The drive home yesterday started out horrible. It was raining, but so cold that it turned to slush on my windshield. Then it was snow. Then it was mixed. This lasted for about a half hour and then was clear for the rest of the ride. I’m glad I got out of work early because people who drove up later in the day had a horrible time. The roads got pretty nasty. I heard something like 100 accidents on I-75 and a train derailed somewhere.

I had a few close calls during the trip. I went by a state cop who must have been taking a nap, because I was going about 72 in a 55. Then I hit a deer about 5 miles from home. No damage though! That would have been just what I needed only a few months away from getting a new vehicle. The deer was standing on the right side of the road so I slammed on the brakes and moved into the left lane. The deer started to run right out at me and then vanished by the side of my car. At first I thought she (it was a doe) had slipped and fell under the car. Then I heard a thud in the back rear of my car. “Shit,” is all I remember thinking. I was still clipping along at a pretty good speed, but couldn’t see anything in my mirrors so I figured she maybe kicked my car when running back off the road. I’m just glad I have superior driving skills!
