Kill Bill: Volume 2

Kill Bill, Volume 2The follow up to Volume 1

and the end of the Kill Bill series. I liked the first movie much better and for quite a few reasons.

Volume 2 was missing all of the fight scenes that made Volume 1 stand out. There were a few short action sequences, but only enough to wet your appetite. Way too much talking, background information, and scenes that had no place in the movie. I was actually quite bored during portions of the movie, so saying I was disappointed would be an understatement.

The movie starts with “The Bride” (Uma Thurman) riding in a car, giving a short recap of the events in the first installment. The movie then goes on to show exactly what happened at the church. We also find out who Bill is. The rest of the movie is the journey “The Bride” takes to kill Bill. About the only thing that kept the movie playing was my need to see her finish the job.

If you’ve seen the first movie, you have to see this one simply to get the whole story. If you haven’t seen Volume 1, don’t waste your time with either volume. I’ll be generous and give this movie a C.

  1. I have to totally disagree with you. I liked the second movie much more than the first one. The first movie made absolutely no sense to me. She ran around and tried to get revenge on all these people, but you never really understand the total picture until after watching the second movie. After seeing Vol. 2 I liked the first one a little bit more than after I saw it, but without the background info they both would have sucked. Dont get me wrong the first one had amazing action scenes, but to be a good movie to me there needs to be something else going on. Vol 1. gets a B, while Vol. 2 gets a B+

  2. How could you not understand what was going on in the first one? She was going to kill the people who attempted to kill her and eventually she was going after Bill.

  3. There is more going on than that though….any idiot can make a movie with a bunch of action scenes. The second movie had a few action scenes and had her training that was hilarious. I have to have something more than just fighting to make a movie worth while.

  4. I think you are on CRACK! These two movies are meant to go together, so they cant be critiqued as separate films. Volume 2 had much better “Tarantino” dialogue than Volume 1. I give the whole thing an A-

  5. I am not really surprised that we have different views on this movie because it was you who said the third matrix movie was…to quote your post…”Great movie” and you were very generous with this comment….”The Matrix series is neck and neck with the Lord of the Rings in my book. I give this movie an A+.”

I must not have been paying attention when you posted that because Matrix trilogy is no where near Lord of the Rings. The first one was great, but next two sucked!

  6. I have to admit that I watched a DVD-rip of Kill Bill: Volume 2 and Mo didn’t rip the subtitles, so I had no clue what was being said for the 10 or 15 minutes when “The Bride” was going through training. Maybe that would improve my thoughts on the movie.

  7. I won’t weigh in on the Matrix thing but I will agree with Jere about KB2. I thought it was a much better chapter overall. The dialog and characters were much better. David Carradine was excellent. One minute he’s a doting father and the next, a total psychopath. It was great. The action was great in KB1 but KB2 was a better movie. I was always thrown a little by the anime right in the middle of KB1 but I figured out that there’s no way to do that scene with live actors. kids and sex don’t mix. Ask Wacko Jacko.

Anyway, it was good. I especially loved when the Bride took out Elle’s eye and she flopped around like crazy. That was cool.

  8. How stupids you are? don’t try to compare matrix or tthe lord of the rings to that ONE wonderful movie!!!You can’t separate them!!!Everything’s just perfect and i loved it so much!!And if ever the lord Tarantino comes to this website I have only one thing to say:Don’t change anything that’s perfect!!!

ps: excuse me if I made a few mistakes but i’m a frenchy girl!!!!by

  9. I disagree, I believe that the only reason you didn’t enjoy the second volume is because it wasn’t pumped full of action scenes and it had a plot with deep meaning. Most critics that are payed for their opinions tend to differ with your own.

  10. I like movies that have a plot with deep meaning. Most critics that are payed for their opinions are so off on their reviews it’s unreal. I never trust the critics because they prefer movies like the English Patient.

  11. Actually, I liked both movies. Though the action was a bit over the top. But wathcing two over the weekend was a great action escape while it was cold and snowy outside. I couldn’t play golf, but I could at least watch a lot of swinging.
