This And That

Went out to an 80’s bar last night with a few friends and ended up staying until closing time. As a result I’m feeling a little “under the weather” today. The bar is pretty cool…they have a big screen TV that they play videos on while the song is playing, so you get the feeling that you’re back in the day, listening to some of the music we grew up on. They played some pretty good songs last night, but they also played a lot of garbage I had never heard of. The highlight of the night was when I asked a cutie for her number and got it. To tell you the truth, I don’t think I’ve ever asked for digits before. I also had another first last night…I’ve never tried to tie a cherry stem in a knot with my mouth, but did it on my first try.

I worked on my brother’s computer yesterday and determined that the motherboard is dead…I think. I ordered a new one, so hopefully I’ll get his computer running this week. He hasn’t had it for about a month now I think. Poor kid.

I received an email the other day from a company that found my resume on Monster.com. They have a programmer/analyst position open in Kalamazoo. I’ve read about the company from their website and it seems like it would be a great place to work. It sounds like they generally care about their employees, which can make a world of difference in a work environment. I’ve left a couple of voicemail messages, so still attempting to get ahold of the woman about the job.

I need to start planning what I’m going to do out in San Diego (mom is going to go for a little vacation). During the day, I imagine I’ll be in class from 8-5 or something similar, so that limits things a bit, but I don’t plan on doing much sleeping. I’m sure we’ll go to the zoo and ride a trolley. One thing I’m really excited about it going to the casino out there. I found one that had Texas Hold’em tournaments every night of the week and they only cost $15-25 to enter.

I found out today that Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant has a new poker room. Maybe I’ll go check it out before the trip to San Diego.

I’m watching Duke vs. Maryland right now and they are finally playing the defense that I’m used to seeing. In fact they are playing just about the best defense I’ve seen them play all year. They are getting steal after steal. The past 4 or 5 games have been a struggle for the Blue Devils and they’ve lost the last two on the road. If there is a good time for a team to lose some games, I think this past week was it for Duke. It will serve as a nice wake-up call for March Madness. This year’s tournament is going to be a “Awesome Baby!”

I’m continuing to help out people with WordPress. It’s a great open source project and community that I’m glad to be an active member of.

I still haven’t had a pop in 2004. I did have a root beer float at A&W a few weeks ago, but I don’t count that because I didn’t drink it for the pop. I’ve had a few cravings here and there, but haven’t missed pop that much. Water and juice are treating me just fine.

In a nutshell, that’s what has been going on lately.

  1. Nice work on the digits….;) big pimpin’ it….and i’m sorry to say but i would consider a root beer float, a pop. Even though you didn’t want it you STILL had it. good try though

  2. yeah…i would have to agree with Case. A rootbeer float is pop…if it has pop in it then it is pop, but i know i could never last that long without drinking pop so good for you!
