Radio

RadioWhen I first saw the commercials on TV for this movie, I knew it was one I wanted to see. It has high school sports, a coach known by everyone in a small town, and a good story. That usually makes for a good movie. I didn’t get the chance to see it in the theaters, so I bought the DVD as soon as it was released. Today I finally made some time to watch it.

Ed Harris played the head football coach who took “Radio” (Cuba Gooding Jr.) under his wing and gave him a chance to make something of his life. There was controversy created in the town because Radio was spending so much time around the high school kids and the coach stood up for him. Both Harris and Gooding played their parts well.

One thing that makes the movie great is that it is based on a true story. At the end of the movie they showed video clips of the real coach and also of Radio. It makes you feel good that there are people out there that give somoene like Radio a chance in life and really make a difference. It really is a movie everyone should watch.

I’ll have to give this movie an A-.

  1. I am showing this movie to my class tomorrow. I can’t wait to see it. Kids today are so wrapped up in themselves that I think seeing a movie like this will do some good…hopefully.

  2. DEFINITELY a must see movie. Your review hits the spot especially where you stated about the last five minutes of the movie where it shows the real life footage. If this movie does not make you think how great life is, nothing will. Count your Blessings and watch this movie?
