Last night at the bar (after the work holiday party) we had a little discussion about tastes in music. I admitted there are some country music songs that I like and will listen to. Bill then argued that because of this, I like country music. I do not like country music! If a person eats tacos, does that mean they like Mexican food? I don’t think it is justification.
In my opinion, to say that you like a particular type of music, you have to enjoy the majority of it. As an example…I won’t listen to a country music station on the radio because I can’t stand listening to the majority of the songs. On the other hand, I can sit and listen to a hip hop station and enjoy almost everything that they play.
Well I think u can like some part of something without liking the whole thing. For instance, you can like strawberry icecream.. But not peanut butter and strawberry jelly??? does that mean u dont like jelly ? or strawberry? Does tha make any Sense to ya?

Hmm…that is a very interesting topic. Even though you do not like most of the country music out there you still like some, therefore you like country music. For example, if I liked whitefish but not any other type of seafood (i.e. shrimp, lobster, etc) I couldn’t say I hated seafood because I liked to eat whitefish. I think I’m going to have to say Bill was right on this one. Sorry kid….

But would you say that you “like” seafood if you only liked whitefish? If someone asked you to go out to eat seafood, you wouldn’t go unless they had whitefish, because you don’t really like seafood, just one particular type. If you ask me, it’s the same with music…I wouldn’t say, “Yeah I like country, put it on the radio. I would only stop on a station and listen to it if there was a song playing that I liked.”
