Steve And Barry's

Steve and Barry’s University Sportswear is my new favorite store! On the way back up from the game, we stopped at Great Lakes Crossing because I had heard about this store while listening to WIOG.

EVERYTHING in the store was $8.98 or less! I bought a Michigan long sleeve T, a Tennessee long sleeve T, Duke T, shirt for work, Michigan hooded sweathshirt, and a small duffle bag. My bill came to about $52! What a bargain!

I also picked up a sweet x-mas gift for Mo at another store, so I didn’t only splurge on myself.

  3. i have to agree, they treat their employees horribly. No respect at all. My managers moto: “I can fire you for no reason whatsoever if i feel like it.” Yeah, great place to work.

  4. Allow me to share with you the latest stunt pulled by Steve and Barry’s. Myself along with others in my state, (Ohio) were RECRUITED by S&B for full time employment as Loss Prevention Agents. Some of us left jobs we worked at for 7 years and longer. We were told there was a wealth of opportunity and plenty of room for advancement. The entire “job pitch” was too good to pass up. We came on board, and 6 weeks later, (3 days after Christmas) we went in to work, we were locked out of our computers, called up on the phone and told due to cut backs and low financial standing we were now terminated. We were told to hand over our equipment to the store director, then we were escorted out of the building. Basically, they hired us for Christmas help but represented it as full time, long-term employment! I have the “offer letter” to support that. We did nothing wrong. As a matter of fact I was performing above the average in my district and quite a few other districts as well. This is how this company operates and it will catch up with them one day. They have devastated allot of good people, luring them from their existing jobs with lies then throwing them out like yesterday’s trash. I only purchased one Steve and Barry’s shirt in the short time I was employed and the next time my dog has an accident I’m going to put it to good use.

  5. Yes there D.C does suck. Their management skills suck they dont treat their employees like people. Three days before x-mas they fire about 70 people and say thats typical, anyone thats work in warehouses knows they always hire around x-mas and dont fire until after the new year. Now that the new year has come, they are working on a third lay off apparently. The question is, why can’t they be honest with their employees and give them a heads up to the changes so that those who rely on this job’s income can start the search for a new job. There has already been one bomb threat this past summer and another disgruntle employee cought the d.c. on fire. Now, if you were them, wouldn’t you want to avoid more incidents like these? As far as the loss prevention people that was here I understand where they are coming from I have worked for this company for over a year. I have done everything in the warehouse including the supervisors jobs of running the shipping department. When I asked for a raise because I was doing supervisors jobs, I was told that I was no different from anybody else and didnt deserve a raise. They wont promote with-in they don’t even tell their employees when they are hiring for supervisors, they always hire from the outside. What kind of company is that? Why take the time to train somebody when you have people that know how to do the job already?

  6. I worked at their as a manager for over a year. They recently let me go as part of a “reduction in management.” Yes, they treat their employees horribly. Yes, they treat their managers horribly. This company needs to pull its head out of its ass and realize what it takes to be a REAL

  7. My beef with Steve & Barry’s is their Loss Prevention agents. They think every employee is a criminal. I worked there for almost 3 1/2 years as a Head Cashier and was “fired” OVER THE PHONE for “not following company procedures”. Absolutely no explanation and of course when I asked for documentation they couldn’t provide it.

  8. Well, S&B’s upper management in Loss prevention constantly hammer the LP staff for numbers.. That forces agents and investigators to shoot at anything that moves. This is their way of securing their cushy little positions. When they hire you they tell you one case per week but once you’re hired it’s a totally different story. The company is a joke. They have not only screwed over Lp agents but now manager’s and company investigators as well. Yet they still plan to open 40 new stores..lol They have stores out there coming in at a 50% shrink!! What goes around comes around. S&B wont be hear long. I can hardly wait to watch all the upper LP management scramble for employment when this company sinks like the Titanic.

  9. I can understand the LP agents position, but being fired from a job that I was good at (easily the top employee in my store) for a fabricated reason just to meet someones quota is absurd. I’ve been unemployed for 2 months now thanks to S&B.
