Didn’t feel the greatest this morning, so I decided to call in sick. π

Still Alive
After the bad news yesterday I decided to get drunk. If you ask anyone that was with me last night, I think they would tell you that I succeeded. I must have drank enough beer to kill a small horse! On the way home, I was even lucky enough to hang my head out the window and puke on Heather’s car. I’m actually feeling pretty good today. It’s amazing what enough sleep and drinking water will do for a hangover. It was a fun time with good friends.
As far as the job…
Something better will come along. Things happen for a reason. It’s their loss, not mine.
No Job
They offered the programming job to the other guy, so I guess it’s back to the job searching… π
Is No News Good News?
Still no news on the job. They were supposed to make their decision this week, so I should find out tomorrow. Things have been getting worse around the office with Doug being out for two weeks with a broken arm and now all of the network and Internet problems that are going on. Students, faculty, and staff are calling left and right with problems accessing the Internet and we don’t have any solutions. I don’t even like to say “we” in this case because we (Help Desk) are not in charge of the network and don’t have any control over it, so of course we don’t have any solutions. What we don’t have are answers, because they (Networking) don’t have the solutions. Understand? It is just very frustrating to have to tell people that things are not working and that the causes are unknown.
The Interview
I had my interview today for the programmer/analyst position at the University. I think it went pretty well.
It didn’t get started until an hour after it was scheduled due to the fact the some of the programmers were working on a portion of the website for displaying tax information. If they had been interviewing someone outside of the department, I highly doubt they would have made them wait that long. But what can you do? It’s over now. Then about halfway through the interview a bird must have come in through the ventilation somehow and was walking around in the celing! So we moved to another room to finish up. It was interesting.
They should be making their decision in the next week.
Another Day Off

I took that directly from the SVSU website. Yes, we are closed once again because of the storm that came though the past two days. Every time this happens, I love working for a small University more and more. You can’t argue against what in reality is an “unplanned paid vacation” as I’ll call it.
My interview for the programming position was supposed to be this afternoon, but will most likely be rescheduled for tomorrow.
Update: Rescheduled for Friday afternoon.
Heather and I spent almost an hour last night getting the wrinkles out of my shirt…all for nothing!
I’m going back to bed…. π
SVSU Campus Closed
SVSU is closed again today because of the big storm coming through. I don’t have to work, but still get paid…I love it! We are supposed to get 6-10 inches today, so if that happens I wouldn’t be suprised if we get canceled tomorrow also.
Enjoy your day, I know I’m going to enjoy mine!
A Good Day
Just a few updates…
My interview for the programming position at SVSU has been scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon. It can’t come soon enough.
I started on my income taxes today and it looks as if I’ll be getting another nice return this year. The money will be going straight towards extra payments on my student loans.
Casey, Hater, and I met for dinner tonight. We really haven’t hung out enough this school year.
Back To Normal
Life should be back to normal now. I took another nap not too long ago and probably could have slept til morning. Just mentally drained I guess. Dad is taking tomorrow off work and I’m glad. He rarely ever takes time off and usually works 50-60 hours a week. This is definitely a time when he can use the day off.
The drive back today wasn’t too bad. For about 30 miles, the roads were damn near glare ice, but after that it was clear sailing. The sun was out almost the whole way home. Combine that with the reflection off the snow and the windows were like magnifying glasses, roasting us inside. I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted to get out of a car so bad as I did today.
SVSU has posted a programming position to internal applicants, so I’ve been polishing up my resume. Wish me luck!
University Closing
Just got word a little while ago that SVSU is closing at noon because of all the snow on the way. Looks like I get to go home early and play! π
