Rain Or Snow

You can’t help but love/hate Michigan weather. This morning I woke up to 50+ degree weather. It had been raining for over 24 hours straight, so all of our snow had disappeared, but there was standing water everywhere. This afternoon, the rain turned to snow. Very wet snow. This snow mixed with the water and we now have slush all over. The snow has stopped and the temperature is dropping into the teens overnight. Instead of slush, we’ll soon have ice. EVERYWHERE! The best scenario is that SVSU will either have a delay in the morning or will shut down for the day. I’m hoping for the latter, but wouldn’t mind sleeping in a few hours either.

October Sucks

October has to be the worst month of the year. At least in Michigan it is. It’s raining every fucking day. The sun never comes out. It’s always cloudy. Mornings are foggy. There are leaves blowing around everywhere.

All of this puts people in a bad mood, including me. Most of the time I don’t even feel like leaving the house, except to buy food and supplies. I guess I could look at the bright side…it gives me time to work on my poker skills.

Water Logged

Golf league was interesting tonight. It was sprinkling at the beginning of the round and wasn’t bad at all for about 4 holes. On the 5th and 6th it really started to come down though! We figured that we were already soaked, so we might as well keep playing, especially since we were scoring well. Three times I had to adjust my swing on the way through because the club would have went flying. My only double bogey was a 3 putt on a green that had puddles all over, otherwise everything was a bogey to go along with 2 pars.

Another interesting part of the round was the fact that 4 of the holes on the back nine were under water, so we had to play holes 1-4 twice and hole 9 once. It turned out to play as par 34 and I shot a 42. Best round of the year and definitely would have been in the 30s if it hadn’t been for the rain.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I always thought it was “April showers bring May flowers.” It has rained almost every single day in May so far. It helps out the golf season in the long run, but prevents it from really kicking off. Thursday was my first time out and I shot a 49, which wasn’t too bad for not […]

Heat Wave

I’m not ready for the hot weather. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday it was over 70 each day and today it passed 80. Today was especially bad because it was extremely muggy to go along with the heat. What’s even worse is that I didn’t get a chance to get any golfing done in the nice weather because I’ve been so busy getting the new place ready to move in and studying for my Microsoft certification test.

I’m ready for 65 degree weather…all day…every day!

Another Day Off

SVSU Closed 01/28/2004

I took that directly from the SVSU website. Yes, we are closed once again because of the storm that came though the past two days. Every time this happens, I love working for a small University more and more. You can’t argue against what in reality is an “unplanned paid vacation” as I’ll call it.

My interview for the programming position was supposed to be this afternoon, but will most likely be rescheduled for tomorrow.

Update: Rescheduled for Friday afternoon.

Heather and I spent almost an hour last night getting the wrinkles out of my shirt…all for nothing!

I’m going back to bed…. πŸ˜€

4 Game Winning Streak

Today we finally played a good game in basketball league. We beat a team (by about 14) that we barely lost to in the first half of the season. We really shot well and took good shots.

My shot finally came around as I stepped in closer to the basket and made a few drives to the hole. I had at least 20 of our 54 or so points. Felt good to finally drill some shots.

On a side note: This weather is killing me. We have more snow than we probably got all of last year. The roads were super slick tonight. I slid right through a stop light and missed my turn. Good thing it was a green light and not red, because that would have been a nice crash.
