Ads With BannerBoxes

I’ve been using Google Ads for 5 or 6 months and they’ve been doing very well, but I’ve decided to try out a new ad service which looks promising. It’s a pay per click system, just like Google’s AdSense, but from the keywords that my sites use, I think I can make a lot more per click with this other system. It’s called BannerBoxes and uses simple text ads that look almost exactly like those for AdSense. So far from logging in and setting up a few ads, I like the system.

Update #1: BannerBoxes has some added features that I think raise it above the Google Ads. If a site wants to advertise on your site, they can sign up as an advertiser and select your site or other sites they want to advertise on. It’s all based on the cost per click that you configure. The system even allows an advertiser to offer a lower CPC and as a publisher you can choose to accept or deny it. BannerBoxes also allows you to make money by referring people to the program which is cool. We’ll see how it pans out after a few days, but I’m really liking what I’ve seen.

Update #2: I finally found a spot with the actual CPC for the ads that were running and it’s nowhere near the max price they show you when signing up. I’ve switched back to the Google Ads for now, but may use these to allow advertises to place ads on the site. I really like that part of the system. Google’s Adsense is nice for an advertiser, but they never really know where their ads are going to show up. BannerBoxes, on the other hand, gives an advertiser the option to choose exactly which sites they’d like to use.

Launching 2 Hole Cards!

I’d like to announce the launch of my latest site, 2 Hole Cards. As you may have noticed, this site had recently turned into a poker blog. Well, not anymore. 2 Hole Cards is now a dedicated poker blog. You may see the occasional Link It posts related to poker on MtDewVirus, but everything else will be at the new site. Go visit and help me break it in!

Using Card Converter

This site takes advantage of my Card Converter Plugin for WordPress. What this allows you to do is type <card>Ah</card> in the comment box and Ah will be displayed. This works for every playing card abbreviation, plus a few extras. You can also use the quicktag buttons just above the comment box so that you don’t have to type out everything by hand. For more instructions and a full set of features, visit the link above.

Through The Portal

I’ve rearranged a few things on the site. The tabbed sidebar has been killed. More than one person has mentioned to me they didn’t like it and to be honest I haven’t been too fond of it for quite some time either. To keep the sidebar from getting too long, the recent comments, popular posts, and stats have been moved to the portal page. The search page wasn’t getting much use, so I threw it away. The hobbies page will likely be removed soon and the about page needs a major overhaul. Don’t mind the dust over the next week or so. Just a little Fall cleaning. Change is good.

Coming Along

The new Poker Chip Tricks site is really coming along. I think I have most of the design work completed. I just need to create all of the content, images, videos and then test everything. Might be able to launch the site next week if I have a productive weekend. No promises though.

I need to get this project completed, so I can begin on the next site I have planned. The domains have already been purchased and are just waiting to be used! Are you as excited as I am?

All Tuckered Out

A few days ago, I promised to start working on pokerchiptricks.com. I’ve started, but haven’t accomplished much. I’ve created a simple header graphic and am playing around with a few colors. Nothing is final, but you can take a peek if you want. I’m just too tired from the weekend to think straight. If I […]
