Stop the Comment Spam

Hopefully comment spam is a thing of the past. I want to apologize to anyone who has attempted to comment recently and has been redirected to the FBI’s site. I think my comment spam checking system was going a little haywire from all of the spammers and it was flagging some of you that were attempting to leave legitimate comments. I hope the new system I’ve implemented will fix the problem. Please let me know if you ever have any problems commenting on any of my sites.

Playing Poker With a Professional

On New Year’s Eve, we pulled into the casino just before 4:00. I made my way to the poker room and found mine and Dad’s names were 2nd and 3rd on the list for a $5/10 hold’em game they’d be starting soon. Within 15 minutes Dad was seated in the 10 seat, so I took the 9 seat so that we could talk through out the night. I buy-in for $100 and set $200 in bills underneath my chips.

When the table started we only had 6 players. It actually didn’t fill up for awhile now that I think of it. Across the table from me is an attrative woman. She has to be in her early 20s, but looks even younger than that. At least I’ll have something good to look at if my cards are trash. The second hand of the night I’m dealt Ad2d in what would be middle position I guess. I limp in, as do a few others. The flop is all red and two are my suit. There is a bet to my right, so I call. The turn is another red card, but it’s a heart. The same guy bets and I call again. The river brings the third diamond.

Happy New Year

Tonight I’m off to St. Ignace for some casino poker. I can’t wait. I haven’t played there in at least 6 months, so it’s long overdue. My limit game has improved dramatically since then. I’m out to have fun, but plan to take some cash in the process. From my experience there, the level of […]

Rogers City Poker Series

On Monday and Tuesday, the Rogers City Poker Series (or that’s what I’m calling it at least) was held at my house. My brother Isaac and his buddies came up with a plan for 4 tournaments. Each player, of which we had 9, bought in for a total of $50. The top three places in each tournament would pay out money. We were to play hold’em twice, ohama once, and stud once.

The Poker Gods Wish Me a Happy Birthday

The poker gods must know it’s my birthday. The big 25!

I played two $2/4 tables this morning and won 48 BB in 99 hands at one table and finished less than a BB ahead at the other. Not a bad way to spend an hour and a half.

My brother gave me 4 suited show glasses as a present to go along with the card protector he bought me for Christmas. The shot glasses are pretty neat. My sister bought me a few more books, namely Tournament Poker for Advanced Players and Caro’s Book of Poker Tells. With all of the new reading material I won’t have any time to play poker, but I should be making a TV final table soon. Ha ha!
