A Final Table

After clearing the reload bonus on Empire Poker tonight I noticed a $10,000 guaranteed tournament with very few people signed up. It was $75+7 and since Empire had just given me $150 in free money I said what the hell and signed up. When the tournament started 120 people has signed up, so Empire had to add $1000 of their own cash to the prize pool. Sweet! The top 20 places paid, so my first focus was on making the money, but I made it all the way up to 9th before making a bonehead mistake. 9th place paid $300 for a nice $218 profit. It’s late and I have a lot to get done in the morning before heading off to the casino, so a tournament recap will just have to wait.

Making Progress

Or am I?

On Tuesday night I finally cleared the 2250 raked hands for the MultiPoker signup bonus. It took me a week. Ridiculous! I’m definitely not taking advantage of the reload bonus they’re running right now. 20x raked hands. That’ll take forever. Tuesday was one of those nights where you wonder how you don’t lose your whole bankroll. I couldn’t get a hand to hold up. Big slick only flopped top pair once out of 8 times. Mrs. Slick did it one out of four. Cowboys were 0-2 as were the ladies. I played for a about three hours or so. Finally around midnight I cleared the bonus and cashed out. Considering how my good starting hands performed, I was glad to only lose 20 big bets for the session. During my stay at MultiPoker I finished $0.04 ahead. Woohoo!! I was up over 70 BB about halfway through the bonus clearing, but went a little downhill from there.

MultiPoker Bonus

I signed up for MultiPoker about a week ago and I’ve already been given a reload bonus. 100% up to $100 through April 10th with bonus code APR05RELOAD. Great bonus even though they require 20 raked hands for every bonus dollar. At least they give 20 days to play the hands.

Fold'em Cowboys

Today I folded KK pre-flop without anyone raising before me. Doh! I was playing 4 tables at the time and hit the fold button on the wrong table. When the flop came JJK I felt sick because one other player was betting his Jack. I’ve been 4-tabling for a few months and haven’t made any mistakes like that previously. At the time I was arguing with a player at one of the other tables so I wasn’t fully paying attention when I should have. Maybe I should just turn chat off.

Bonus Clearance & Bankroll Buildance

Just a quick post for an update of the last two days.

In addition to hitting royal flush #6 on Tuesday I was able to clear about 400 more raked hands for the Party Poker bonus. In the process I also took down a profit of $20. Nothing spectacular, but always better than a losing day.

Last night I had to split my play up in order to go out to Hooter’s with some friends. Wednesday is All-You-Can-Eat wings and fries for $8.95! Before dinner I was crushing the $0.50/1 tables and sorry I had to leave. In addition, I only needed to play another 90 raked hands to finish off the bonus. After dinner I jumped back into the fish bowl and was down early. I hit a few big hands and turned another profit. It didn’t take long to clear the bonus and I logged off right after. After 4 solid days of play I cleared the required 1400 raked hands and $200 of bonus cash was transferred to my account.

In addition to the bonus I took another $187 in profit from the tables for a total of $387. Not bad hey! I’m still leaving money on the table at times though. If a bluff doesn’t work right away I need to learn to give it up. Accepting defeat is never easy though.

Since starting my bankroll over at $300 I’ve been able to find my zone again at the tables. I’m starting to “feel” my way through hands, which is a good sign. With the help of a few bonuses and winning days at the tables my bankroll is back up to nearly $800. Only $200 more and I’m moving back to the $1/2 tables.

I won’t be playing any online poker until at least Monday with the Easter weekend. The next stop on my bonus whoring tour is MultiPoker.

My Night

I knew it was going to be my night within minutes of taking my seats at Party Poker. I hit the nut straight on the turn and was getting bet into. I of course raised back and the pot was capped. In addition to myself and the other raiser in the pot, 3 other people called down! It was the type of hand we all dream about. The river paired the board, but I wasn’t worried and bet from last position, getting 3 callers. It ended up being a 29 BB pot. Everyone else had also made their straight on the turn, but none beat or tied mine so I took the whole pot.

Some Bad Plays

After hitting two royal flushes last night I was on a poker high so I decided to wait until today to review my play from the session. My biggest losing hand was so horribly played that I can’t believe it myself. I raised in late position with AcTc and one limper called. The flop was 7-high with a pair of 4s. It was bet into me, so I raised to see where I was at. I was then re-raised and this should be an easy fold with my ace-high hand. Nope, I capped it and then went raising again on 4th street. I ended up losing 7 BB on the hand, which is 5 more than I should have.
