Review: Meet the Fockers

Meet The Fockers (Widescreen Edition)Meet the Parents was a great movie, but Meet the Fockers was disappointing. The movie had it’s moments, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the first film.

Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, and Barbra Streisand all did an excellent job with their parts in the movie. My issue was with the writing of the script. The jokes just weren’t very funny. I don’t care how good the acting is…it can’t make up for a poor script. I watched the extended version on the DVD and that made it even worse. Instead of actually making smooth transitions to an added scene they alerted you with an icon on the screen and then completely jumped to the new scene. It was horrible. I’ve watched a lot of extended edition DVDs and none were ever done bad.

Meet the Fockers isn’t so bad that you shouldn’t watch it, but don’t expect anything up to the standard set by Meet the Parents. I give the movie a C-.

Review: Napoleon Dynamite

Napoleon DynamiteI really liked Napoleon Dynamite. Yes, it is stupid, but so stupid that it becomes funny.

Right away the movie was different. The opening credits were unlike any I’ve ever seen before. Most movies do the opening credits with computers and graphics, but MTV came up with something new for this one. Each name/credit was on some type of food with a different carpet used as a background each time. For instance, a hand came into the picture with an open hamburger on a plate. On the hamburger, written in mustard was the credit. It was a pretty neat idea.

You’ve probably heard many people talk about how dumb Napoleon Dynamite is. I won’t argue there. The plot and characters are so out of place that it makes you laugh. I’ll admit that I was laughing my ass off in several parts. Two of my favorites had to be when Napoleon took the bike jump and when he fell off the fence. Just great scenes.

Many people won’t like this movie, but it was a nice change from the “normal” movies. How do I grade it though? It really is a horrible movie as far as content, but I think that’s what made it so enjoyable. You really have to appreciate the movie for what it is. I’ll give it a B just because I can’t give it a high grade or a low one.

ChapStick Stains

I just spent the last 15 minutes putting Spray ‘n Wash on 2 pairs of pants, a pair of shorts, and 3 polo shirts. Some moron decided to leave Berry ChapStick in his pants pocket, so a whole load of clothes has pink stains on them. I’m probably out at least $100 because of that […]

April Fool's

Why do people and/or businesses announce things on April Fool’s Day? It has to be the worst day of the year for announcments. We want to believe something, but then we remember it’s April 1st and can’t help but think, “Is this a joke?” Seriously, couldn’t an announcement of some sort wait until the next […]
