Golf At Boyne Highlands

Just a quick update to say that I golfed on the Heather course at Boyne Highlands today. We only played 9 holes though because the rain really started to come down. I was on a scramble team with my Dad and our team took first out of the three teams. -3 for nine holes in […]

Enough Posts About The Site!

I haven’t posted much lately about what I’ve been up to, so here it is…

As you can probably tell I’ve spent a lot of time over the past 5 days working on the site. I’m happy with the outcome and will be taking some time off. I say that, but it never really happens. πŸ˜‰

Golf season is in “full swing” now and Mother Nature seems to be playing nice again. I’m playing in two leagues again this year and then I try to get out at least once on the weekends. My game has been pretty steady so far, but on Monday I sucked! The only thing I was doing right was putting. My swing had been feeling good so far and then it was like I forgot everything in one day. I still love the game though. There isn’t another sport like it.

I’m getting excited about going to Sacramento, CA next week. I’ll be taking an Advanced Visual Basic.NET class for work. It’s nice to get some time away from the office, especially when it’s all paid for. Sure, I’ll have class all day, but after 5, it’s all play with little time for sleep. My Mom and sister, Heather, are tagging along for the ride I guess. Hopefully I’ll be able to hit up a casino or two and play some poker. I really enjoyed it when I was out in San Diego, so I hope there is a similar casino in the area. I should be able to take a lot more pictures on this trip since there will be more daylight to enjoy the weather and scenery. Look for photos when I get back.

I’m absolutely loving it having a place all to myself! I may never live with another human being again. OK…so I won’t, but I sure do enjoy it. I have all the piece and quiet I could ever ask for.

Other than that, not too much exciting has been going on.

Water Logged

Golf league was interesting tonight. It was sprinkling at the beginning of the round and wasn’t bad at all for about 4 holes. On the 5th and 6th it really started to come down though! We figured that we were already soaked, so we might as well keep playing, especially since we were scoring well. Three times I had to adjust my swing on the way through because the club would have went flying. My only double bogey was a 3 putt on a green that had puddles all over, otherwise everything was a bogey to go along with 2 pars.

Another interesting part of the round was the fact that 4 of the holes on the back nine were under water, so we had to play holes 1-4 twice and hole 9 once. It turned out to play as par 34 and I shot a 42. Best round of the year and definitely would have been in the 30s if it hadn’t been for the rain.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I always thought it was “April showers bring May flowers.” It has rained almost every single day in May so far. It helps out the golf season in the long run, but prevents it from really kicking off. Thursday was my first time out and I shot a 49, which wasn’t too bad for not […]

I Love Spring

Is there any better time of the year than spring? Not for me.

The sun comes out from hiding, the snow melts, the grass changes from brown to green, and you can feel the air getting warmer as each day passes. Spring also has that distinct smell that can’t compete with any other season. Everyone seems to be happier and more up-beat during the spring. Everything is changing in preparation for the coming summer. Spring brings new life and for some “love” is in the air.

The spring is my favorite time of year for sports. No other sporting event can compare to March Madness for excitement as far as I’m concerned. I never get really emotional, but when teams get down to the Final Four things get to me a little bit. The opening that CBS does before the games is just amazing and I almost tear up once in awhile. After the championship game they always show clips of the National Champ along with other teams that battled along the way. For those of you who don’t watch, it is always to the song One Shining Moment and it may be my favorite moment of the year created by sports.

Another great sporting event during the spring is The Masters, the grestest golf tournament in the world. It’s a beautiful golf club that hosts an amazing tournament every year. Every pro golfer’s dream is to win at Augusta National some day.

Both March Madness and The Masters have one thing in common that adds a special touch…Jim Nantz. Does this guy have the greatest voice for what he does or what? His opening to the basketball games and the golf tournament are the most soothing thing a man can hear in sports. It give me the chills every year and I always look forward to listening. I wonder if he realizes what kind of impact he has on the broadcasts…CBS must, because they haven’t stopped using him.

Spring also means that I’ll be out golfing soon. During the summer I could do nothing but golf every day and I’d be a happy guy. It never gets old until the end of the golf season when you need to wear a little bit warmer clothes to be comfortable on the course.

This year I’ll be moving in a few weeks, so the spring has some added excitement in the fact that I’ll have my own place.

Did I mention that I love spring?

Living On A Golf Course

I’ve always said that I would like to have a house on a golf course. Today I questioned myself…why?

The view would be awesome, but other than that, there really aren’t any great advantages I can think of. The property around a “nice” golf course is over priced because of the location. You can’t walk out and play a few holes anytime you want. You have limited use of your yard for obvious reasons. You have to put up with people walking on your property to find their golf balls. Your children will be in danger of golf balls and foul language.

Maybe it would make for a nice retirement/summer home.
