There is a common misconception among golfers that scrambles and best ball tournaments are the same. Some even say “best ball scramble,” but there really is no such thing. The guy (or gal) who came up with the terminology must have been drunk or crazy, because both are very misleading.

Golf Is Fun Again
While the site was down the for the past few days I’ve figured out my golf game. On Thursday night for league, I shot a 38, finally getting into the 30’s for the first time this summer. It was long overdue! Then this weekend I want to Sterling Heights to visit Jere for a few days. We played 18 yesterday and it was my best 18 hole score ever. I shot a 42 on the front 9 (with an 8 on the last hole!) and a 40 on the back 9 for an 82. We also shot 9 holes today, but I was pretty hungover from Saturday night. I managed to shoot a 49, but just wasn’t into it. I already have plans to play Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday this week. Now it’s time to work on getting more consistent with my swing before the big golf trip to Boyne Highlands at the end of August.
Sunday's 18
We played Garland’s Monarch course and it was gorgeous! Some of the most beautiful golf holes I’ve ever played…by far! Some of the par 4s were pretty long, but the par 5s weren’t bad at all, if you could hit a decent drive. I would have taken some photos, but I was too busy swinging over 100 times on the day. It was a great day for golfing. Clear sky, perfect temperature, and not too humid.
My golf game was pretty bad. I showed some promise off the tee again, which I haven’t done all year with my woods. I hit 3-wood on quite a few holes and about half of them were nice drives down the middle of the fairway. In golf, if one thing is on, everything else seems to be off though. My irons, which I’ve been very consistent with this year, were pretty inconsistent. Chipping and putting were horrible, and they’ve been the best part of my game all summer. I’m so lost with my golf game right now, I don’t even know what to work on.
Lately…
I’ve had quite a few things going on. Somehow, things all happen at once.
Today I did a little work on my new dedicated server, but I still need to wait for a few domains to transfer over to 1&1, where I’ve decided to keep all the domain registrations. I now own 8 domains, which are
- momrik.com
- mtdewvirus.com
- mtdewvirus.net
- mtdewvirus.org
- nickmomrik.com
- pokerchiptricks.com
- pokerchiptricks.net
- pokerchiptricks.org
I hope to have the pokerchiptricks.com site up in the next few weeks, but there really is a lot of work to do. I need to come up with a design, shoot a lot of videos, compress all of those videos, write tutorials, and many other things I have planned.
Been Busy…
The posts have been few and far between lately. I know. It’s always hectic coming back from a holiday weekend. For the rest of this post I’m simply going to type whatever comes to mind, so please excuse me if it doesn’t make sense.
Golf Swing – Fixed?
I think I figured out what has been wrong with my swing all summer. I haven’t been rotating my hips and lower body on the backswing, which has been causing a drop in my left shoulder and then my head. Every regular golfer knows that the head is supposed to be still throughout the swing. It’s amazing how this little bit of movement was causing me to almost miss the ball on tee shots. I’ve been driving 50-100 yards for about 3 weeks because I keep dribbling it off the tee box. Ugly and embarrassing!
Scoring has been in the upper 40s, which still isn’t too bad, but it gets old having to hit a miraculous second shot on every hole to recover. Chipping has been up and down all year, but my putting has been spectacular.
If I’ve truly found the fix to my swing, maybe golf can be fun again!
The Game I Love?
Golf.
One minute you love it and the next you wish you’d never played.
One minute you hit a shot like Tiger Woods and the next you feel like you’ve never swung a club.

12 Putts
Everything was dropping in the cup tonight. 6 one-putts and 3 two-putts. 7 bogeys and 2 pars. Overall, it turned out to be a good round with a 42. I only hit one GIR so I really needed the putting to save my score. The green that I did hit was a par 3, but 40-50 feet from the hole. The putt slid by on the left side by no more than an inch and rolled 3 inches past the hole for a gimme par. 10-12 footers were falling like rain drops all night. I love my Odyssey 2-Ball!
