Mom and I went up to the Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace for the night. We got there around 3:30, but the poker room didn’t open until 4:00, so I had a seat at the bar to watch the Red Wings and have a beer. After awhile I finally decided to check out the poker room.

Lotto Theory
I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t like to have more money. Money, of course, isn’t the solution to life’s problems, but it sure does make living easier. It’s the reason people buy lottery tickets; for that chance at millions of dollars. Not even needs the money of course, but I’m talking about the average person, not Bill Gates.
I propose a change to the way current lottery systems are run.
Why don’t they user fewer numbers to pick from? Instead matching 6 out of 46 or 50 numbers, they could cut that down to 30, 35, even 40 numbers. This would increase everyone’s (if you buy a ticket of course) chance at winning the big jackpots. It would still be a shot in the dark, but your chances would be much better. This would mean more people would match the numbers more often. Who really needs the jackpots to reach $200 million? I couldn’t spend that much money if I tried. If more people are winning that will also mean there will be more split jackpots, but so what! More people will be winning and that is the key argument I have.
It was just a random thought I had a few weeks ago…maybe I’m crazy.
Ocean's Eleven
I watched this movie yesterday and forgot to write a review. I’ve seen the movie once or twice in the theater and countless other times on DVD, so that alone should tell you I think it’s a great movie.
What more could you ask for? Eleven guys (all with different talents) team up to rob a Las Vegas casino. It’s a great plan that runs into a few bumps in the road. Just when you think you have it all figured out, a final twist is thrown as you. “Wow!” is about all you can say when it happens. George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts and many others make it a great cast for a movie.
If you haven’t seen this movie…what are you waiting for? I give it an A.
Poker Skill Or Just Luck?
I had a very interesting conversation today at work about poker. There are so many people out there that suggest or truly believe that there isn’t any skill involved in poker…just dumb luck. I invite everyone who believes this to come play a fews sessions of poker at my house, and we’ll see how much skill it takes to win!
I read an interesting article today and I couldn’t give a better argument if I tried, so I’ll just give a few of the main points from the article and let you read the whole thing if you are interested.
Take A Chance
The Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $222 million. Wow! WIOG, a local radio station, is running a group lottery ticket, so I stopped by on my way to work and put in $1. They already had collected over $750 at around 8:15 this morning. I also stopped at 7-Eleven and bought my own $1 ticket.
You can’t win if you don’t have a ticket…
Super Bowl XXXVIII
The Super Bowl is today, but I’m not all that thrilled about it. I’m not a fan of the teams, but I don’t hate them either. I would have liked to see Payton Manning and the Colts make it to the big show, but the cold New England weather did them in against the Patriots. I guess I’ll root for the Panthers simply because they are the underdogs. I have some pretty good numbers for the usual Super Bowl squares that everyone does for betting. The pot is $125 per quarter, so it would be nice to win one or maybe even two! These are my numbers:
