Last Monday SVSU didn’t open until noon because of an ice storm. Tomorrow, it’s because of snow. Next Monday might be locusts. Just found this on the SVSU site.

I’ve updated the plugins for moderating pingbacks and trackbacks. They now work like I should have first created them. The PB or TB is set to moderate before being committed to the database. This eliminates my query to the database and it also allows WordPress to send you the correct email message. The latest version […]
My little sister Heather just got hired for a permanent substitute teaching job for the rest of the school year. She had graduated in December and there aren’t too many openings for teachers in the middle of the school year, so I’m really happy for her. Way to go Baba! Haha…”Baba” was my nickname for […]

The snow is still coming down at a rate of an inch/hour. I’d say we’ve gotten about 10 inches in the last 12 hours. Maybe SVSU will close down tomorrow and I won’t have to work. Saginaw Public schools have already been canceled.
Yesterday the sun was out and there was green grass everywhere. So maybe it was a greenish-brown, but at least you could see grass in everyone’s yard. Our snow had been gone for about a week.
This morning when I woke up there was just a little bit of white powder on the ground; a little harmless snow.
I’ve updated all of my WordPress plugins for WP 1.5 compatibility. Most of them would have functioned without a problem, so I didn’t make many changes. Enjoy!
I haven’t played any poker this week except for the UB freeroll. I’m enjoying my time away from the tables and should be ready for a big comeback in a few days.
Want a better archiving system for WordPress? You may remember the old MtDewVirus archives system, but this is much better. The new theme system makes it possible. You can see it in action on the archives here at MtDewVirus and get the files at the MDV Archive page.
I’m pretty happy with the way the design turned out. I call it Forward because of it’s relation to my life right now. We can usually tell what is over our heads and what is under our feet, but we don’t always know what’s right in front of us. For instance, just look at the header and footer images. You might not be able to tell, but both images are cut from a photo I took in Philadelphia last year. I purposely didn’t use any of the middle section. What you find in the content of this site is always changing. It’s the unknown. This new design also comes at a point in my life where I hope to be moving forward very soon. My “master life plan” is finally coming into view.
I still have a lot to do with the site and other things related to the release of WordPress 1.5. The next item on my to-do list is to convert all of the plugins I’ve created so that they work with WP 1.5. This shouldn’t take too much time. I also need to prepare MDV-Archive for release. What’s this? Just browse through the archives and you’ll see they don’t function like the archives on most WP sites. It really shouldn’t be too difficult to get this released, so it may come before the plugins. I basically just need to edit a few lines and offer the files for download.
On the home front, here at MtDewVirus, I’m going to put up an extensive about section. It’ll be complete with information about yours truly, the history of MtDewVirus, an explanation of how things are accomplished in Forward, and an FAQ. If you have any questions about Forward, the site, or anything else please post a comment and I’ll be sure to take it into consideration.
One thing that may change with Forward is the font used for the image headlines (not the font in the header image). I’m not sure it fits in. Let me know what you think.
I should also mention that Forward was built on top of the default theme (Kubrick) that now ships with WP 1.5, but is highly customized.
As you may have noticed, I’m in the process of rolling out the new MtDewVirus design. Please excuse the small piles of dust here and there as I clean a few things up. Also note that I haven’t even started to work on the Photos section of the site. Much more to come in the […]
