Integrating Twitter

I’ve been using Twitter more and more just because it’s so simple to post quick little updates. I just installed the Twitter Tools plugin which will create a daily post here at MDV from my Twitter Updates. These daily posts (if I have any Tweets that day) will go into the quickie category and make things easier on me. Hopefully it’ll help to keep some fresh content on the site. Let me know what you think.

Update: Looks like it already created an update from yesterday’s tweets. I like it!

Attend a PGA Tour Event

“These guys are good.”

If you ever have the chance to go see professional golfers in a tournament, do it. Watching some of the shots these guys can pull of on TV is great, but nothing compares to seeing it in person.

You can watch the pros warm up on the driving range and putting green. You can stand behind the tee box, watching them hit driver. You can camp out near a landing area and watch the pros make approach shots. You can sit around a green and watch them chip, hit out of the sand, and make putts.

There is only so much you can get out of watching golfers on TV. Seeing a professional hit a wedge out of the deep rough, spin it on the green, and stop it a few feet from the cup is only something you can really appreciate stand 5 feet away. It’s simply amazing.

I went to the Buick Open at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, MI on Saturday and it reminded me how good the pros really are. I’ve been to the Buick Open probably a handful of times in the last ten years, but it’s always amazing to go back. It never gets old seeing these golfers hit bomb after bomb on the driving range, where we’d be lucky to hit a couple balls out of a bucket as good as they hit every single one.

Attending a golf tournament is unlike any other sporting event you can attend because you can walk around the entire course and watch whatever you want. You can get to within a couple feet of the players and offer them a high-five as they walk off the green.

Just trust me and go watch a golf tournament if you have the chance. It’ll be worth every penny.

Transforming Monday

My roommates and I bought tickets for tomorrow’s showing of Transformers. Tomorrow as in Monday, July 2nd. Don’t ask me how they are showing it at 8 pm a day before it’s set to open, because I’m sure not complaining about it. Actually I just checked the web site and now it says 7/2/7. First […]

My iPhone

I didn’t get an iPhone on Friday, but the local AT&T store took a direct fulfillment order and I’ll get one before the store gets their next shipment. I got inline at 3:45 pm for the 6 pm sale of iPhones and I was #34 in line. The AT&T manager did a good of handling the line by taking everyone’s name, but when 6 pm rolled around the situation was horribly slow. It took nearly an hour for the store to go through their shipment of iPhones. And they only had 20! Yes, you read that right, they only received 20 iPhones, but it took an hour to sell them all.

I have no idea what was taking so long but they’d let in 4-5 people at a time because that is how many sales people could handle it I guess. Several people left the line after the iPhones sold out, so I wasn’t even the 34th person to go in the store and I didn’t get in my car until 7:20 pm. It was pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

I know it’s not the fault of the store for how many phones they received, but I do think they could have worked the line at least twice as fast as they did once 6 pm rolled around. I was very surprised the store only received 20 phones when it’s the only place within an hour drive where you could buy an iPhone. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long for them to ship it from the warehouse now.
