Fall TV Choices

Fall brings the start of nasty weather to Michigan. Temperature drops, thunderstorms, and the scraping of windshields in the morning are some of the more unpleasant signs of fall we get to experience. This all means more time spent inside the house. It’s a good thing the TV stations start all of their new seasons at this same time.

My DVR is scheduled for many of the same shows it was back in February, but there are also a few new shows that have caught my eye. Here’s my week…

Sunday

  • Desperate Housewives on ABC – I’m only still watching this because there’s nothing else on Sunday nights. It reminds me of a soap opera and seems to get more and more unbelievable with each episode. If one of my roommates didn’t watch it, I’d definitely be done with the show.

Monday

  • Heroes on NBC – I’ll admit I thought it was a dumb idea when I saw the first preview months ago, but as the summer went on each new clip caught my eye. I’m a fan of the Marvel movies and who wouldn’t want to have super powers? The season is only 2 episodes in, but it has been entertaining. I’m interested to see what happens next and which new characters are introduced.

Tuesday

  • NCIS on CBS – I saw a couple of episodes 2 years ago and watched the entire season last year. The thing I like most is the interaction between the characters in the show.
  • The Unit on CBS – This show started late in the season last year and ran through the end without skipping a week. Every guy has had drams about being on a covert ops team and The Unit gives a small taste of that life.

Wednesday

  • Lost on ABC – I’ve been watching season 1 and 2 on DVD and have have 4 discs (16 episodes) left to catch up on. Lost is my new favorite show. I’m already an episode behind on the new season, but hopefully I’ll be all caught up by next week. I have so many questions about this show as I watch it. Each time something is answered, a new question comes up. Great show!
  • The Nine on ABC – Throughout the summer I was intrigued by the commercials for this show. Looked very interesting. After watching the first episode off recording yesterday I’m not too sure about this one. I’ll give it a couple of weeks before I make any decisions about continuing to watch or not.
  • Laguna Beach on MTV – I caught a couple of episodes during season 1 and watched most of last season. It was an interesting concept for the show, but I think the group of kids they had on last year really made the show. This year sucks and the only reason I keep watching is because I can get through it while eating my breakfast or lunch.

Thursday

  • Survivor on CBS – I started watching Survivor towards the end of season 11. I enjoy watching the competitions and how the people play each other with their alliances.
  • Grey’s Anatomy on ABC – Season 1 and 2 were pretty good, but this show is getting boring. I think they’re trying to cater more to women lately because there hasn’t been any action. It’s all relationships and emotion this season.
  • CSI on CBS – Still one of my favorite shows since I got hooked a couple of years ago. Are they ever going to say what’s up with the end of last season when Grissom and Sara hooked up?
  • The OC on Fox – This doesn’t start for a few more weeks which is good because I still have to catch up on some of the early part of last season. Everyone was going off to college, so it’ll be interesting how the show moves forward.
  • ER on NBC – I’ve been a long time fan of ER and when a new season comes out on DVD I always buy it to catch up on the seasons I haven’t seen. I thought the last year or two was so-so for ER, but this year it’s been really good so far. The season premier was one of the best ER episodes I’ve ever seen.

Friday

  • Las Vegas on NBC – Who doesn’t like the city of Las Vegas? A show about it is not nearly as good as the real thing, but it gets me by until my next trip. Will Danny and Mary ever get back together? Who will Delinda and Sam hook up with season? Will Nessa ever come back to the show?
  • Numb3rs on CBS – Just another show to fill the void. I’ve always like math, but I admit I don’t remember ever hearing about most of the theorems and shit they talk about in this show. Some of the acting is touch and go, especially the female FBI agent, but I like the interaction between the two brothers and their Dad.

Saturday

  • My DVR gets a rest! Also a good day to catch up if I fell behind on any of the shows.

Yes, I know that’s a lot of TV, but having a DVR makes it so much easier. I can watch an hour long show in 45 minutes as long as I’m not watching it as it airs. Nearly everything I watch is on one of the HD channels and I just can’t get enough of HD programming.
