No WWW

I posted a couple of months ago about dropping the www from URLs and have been a supporter of it for much longer. All of my sites have been www free for as long as I can remember. The http://www.xxxx.com URLs will redirect to the one without www. If you’re using WordPress and have been […]

World Series of Poker (WSOP) Live Updates

For this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) it seems the Rio has made some changes in regards to live updates by the media. Last year I was continually refreshing Pauly’s Poker Blog to get the most up-to-date information about the WSOP, not to mention his top 5 lists. Today I’m following the events of the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event and the best live updates I can find are from CardPlayer. If anyone knows of a site with more current updating, please leave a comment.

Tiger Woods is not Lebron James

…I just read that LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers signed a new three-year contract for $60 million. Obviously, that’s a great deal, but I wouldn’t trade places with him. Most NBA players only have two options: a team contract and a shoe deal. That’s the only exposure they get.

Tigerwoods.com Newsletter

I bet there a few athletes in other sports that would be willing to trades places with Tiger Woods. He gets to play golf for a living, has a beautiful wife, and is one of the richest athletes in the world. What a dream!

I Watched the 2006 World Cup Final

I’ll admit I watched the final game of the 2006 World Cup. I was rooting for France to win, but Italy prevailed in the shootout after two scoreless overtime periods. I only missed a minute here and there throughout the entire game as I ran to another room or did a quick channel change. At […]

Hitting the Wall

Back in my younger days I ran quite a bit. I might have even enjoyed it once in awhile. During 8th grade and my freshmen year of high school I ran cross country. We had some fun during practices, but I can’t really say that I enjoyed the running aspect of the sport. I ran the distance events during my freshmen year of high school and just hated it. I was never a good long distance runner, which probably had something to do with it; I don’t like to lose.

At some point in every long distance (3+ miles) run I’ve ever made I’ve hit the wall. The wall is the point where you just can’t push your body any longer. Breathing would get hard and my legs would eventually give out. I’d either have to slow down or stop completely. As an athlete this was not fun. I don’t like to give up.

Plastic Playing Cards

A deck of plastic playing cards are the best deck of cards you can buy. If you aren’t used to plastic cards it’ll take a bit of time getting used to how they handle, but once you do, you’ll notice a considerable difference from a normal deck of cards. At first they’ll be much harder to hold on to and will slide easier, but with more handling you’ll become comfortable in no time.

One of the main reasons they are better is because the cards last nearly forever if you take care of them. Plastic playing cards don’t bend like a paper playing card so you don’t have to worry about a crease marking the ace of spades. Since they’re plastic you can simply wipe the cards off if they get wet, which is great for cleaning the cards. This is unlike paper playing cards that are nearly useless after soaking up any kind of liquid.

The most popular name you’ll hear when plastic playing cards are being discussed is KEM. According to their web site, they’re “America’s Most Desired Playing Card.” I’ve seen KEM cards as well as other plastic playing cards and really couldn’t tell much of a difference between brands. They usually come in a set of two decks which will cost you a lot more than two decks of paper playing cards, but they’ll last you much much longer so the money is well spent. Simply do a search for “plastic playing cards” on Google and browse through the different options available.

Before I Die

A few months ago I started a list of things I wanted to do before I die. I never got around to publishing it and ended up completing one of the items (eagle a par 4) about a month ago. I just hit the publish button on the page.

Before I Die…

What are some of the things on your list? If you have a web site, create your own page and link back here for others to track back to you.

Busy Busy

New postings have been few and far between here at MDV for the past few months and especially during the last month. I’ve been extremely busy and having a lot of fun. The big secret (I sold pokerchiptricks.com) is out, went to Cedar Point, bought a black MacBook, have golfed a ton this summer, and just recently took a 5-night trip to Las Vegas. Detailed posts on all of these will be making their way to a NICKED Up blog in the near future. This post will help serve as a reminder of what I need to get done. Maybe I’ll even get started on a new design for MDV, which I’ve had visions of doing for far too long.

The Big Secret

Over the past couple of months I had mentioned a big secret I was planning to let out of the bag. Well, the announcement is nearly a month after the deal was completed, but it’s out. I sold pokerchiptricks.com. The whole deal was really stressing me out towards the end and I can now say that I hate dealing with lawyers. Head over to the poker blog for more details.
