I also took a trip this weekend to the Soaring Eagle Casino so I could play some poker with my dear ol’ brother. I decided to take a different route, as I tried out the 6/12 game for the first time in my life. It is quite a bit different, as the players up there have more common sense, and your good plays actually stand up.

I bought in at around 11:30 a.m. or so and saw my Nick over at the 3/6 table and gave him a wave. I purchased 200 in chips because I figured I should get twice as many as I get at 3/6, and I was right. After about an hour or so, I was down to about 60, still getting used to the more experienced players. As the time passed, I had gotten my stack back up to about even, when my mom and my sister gave us their best, as they had to catch the bus back up North. This must have been around 3:00 p.m.

About and hour passed and I realized I had this different style down. I was up about 100 and decided to see how Nick was doing. He was down about 40-50 and I told him how much I was up. I let about another hour pass and went to check on him, he was now up about 30, and I was up about 250. I would check up about every hour or so, just to see how he was doing and making sure he wasn’t making any rookie mistakes;) I ended up leaving my table at about 5-6 with 800 in chips. A $600 profit from the poker table. I guess I should stayed longer to make sure Nick didn’t make his mistakes.

I stayed the night with a friend and went back on Sunday to watch some football and hopefully make some more money. I played from about 4 or 5 til about 9 p.m. and left the table up $376. Not a bad poker weekend with a total poker profit of $976. Too bad I only walked away with $576 because I conned myself into playing some table games. Still not too bad.
