I got owned by Drizz in the first round of HUC2. In the best of three match I actually took the first game before the blinds went up. This while playing another heads-up that I got into by mistake. I slow played aces in the final hand and took down his top pair.
The next two games didn’t go so hot. I was outplayed pretty much the whole way. I got down early and I don’t play well heads-up when I’m behind. Definitely a weakness of mine. Give me a lead and I’ll push chips around like their coming out of my ass, but put me in a come from behind position and I get scared of everything. Note to self for next time I play HU: stay aggressive.
Drizz took down the 2nd game without too much trouble and I fell down pretty big early on in the final game. I flopped a flush draw and a gut shot straight draw. Drizz bet out and I put in a big raise, which he called. I actually had thought about pushing there with all of my outs. Or what I thought were outs! My gut shot hit on the turn, but it also made my flush. I forget how it happened, but Drizz ended up all-in with a bigger flush. I was crippled down to about 170 chips. It went back and forth a bit and I doubled up twice on suck outs, but never got back above 700 chips. On the final hand I flopped top pair with a gut shot, but Drizz flopped the straight. The turn gave me two pair and more outs, but the river didn’t help.
I’m really disappointed in my play those last two games, but it’s all due to Drizz. I’m not trying to take anything away from his play, because he kicked my ass. Every time I made a sizeable bluff he picked me off or came over the top and I had to fold. He controlled the action and put my off my game. Congrats and good luck in the next round!
I always like the aggressive style of play. I am not into a player who seeks to play conventionally. Although I value basics, but I think winning is more on guts. However, that does not mean I am not using my head.

My only complaint is you made me fold AA twice pre-flop when you mucked the button!!
Being a full ring, cash game player, HU is definitely out of my comfort zone. Thanks again for an great and educational match π

Hate to hear you are out Nick, but someone had to lose. I know that all too well in the HUC2.
Good luck in other games. Now you have more time to work with DoubleAs as well!

I’m excited about my part of the book, but I didn’t really have to do much. The tutorial text was already done on the web site. I simply had to take photos that’ll be used in the book.
