Launching NICKED Up
I just launched NICKED Up, which will be a type of “home base” for the network of blogs that I run. For full details visit the first post at the new site, titled This is NICKED Up. I’ve closed comments on this post at MDV in order to keep all comments over there.
One-on-One
Tonight I played a total of 6 heads-up SNGs on Bodog, ranging from $5 to $30. I won 4 out of 6 and finished up $25 for the night. I’m going to concentrate on playing a lot of these for awhile as well as other SNGs and MTTs. I need a change from the limit games for a bit. Maybe I’ll be able to shake off the bad beats I kept running into at the 6-max games.
I felt good about my play tonight. One of the losses came when I had to push with
I find that in these heads up battles I fare the best if I’m aggressive, because then I’m able to trap the other player at some point. They see you raising and raising, so when you don’t come at them, they won’t believe you when you come over the top of them. All they remember is the constant aggression and when you come out with the passive play it automatically means weakness. This doesn’t work against the aggressive opponents though, so I just try to use their constant aggression against them with a few bluff raises.
If I had some long term results I think I’d find out that I win much more often against passive players than aggressive ones.
Review: Catch Me If You Can
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio, but way back when I first saw previews and clips for Catch Me If You Can, I was interested to see the movie.
I thought the movie was a good fit for Leonardo and I actually enjoyed his acting. The role was a good one for him. He seemed to work well with Tom Hanks, who played a good part too. Come to think of it, the only other movie I can name from DiCaprio was Titanic. So maybe my dislike for him was made up or based on seeing him in the news.
Catch Me If You Can is a good movie that keeps you wondering how he’ll get caught. Will Hanks pull off some excellent detective work? Will DiCaprio screw up? The movie is based on a true story which makes it all that more interesting. How did such a young kid con so many people?
The movie is a nice change of pace from the normal action or comedy type films. Give it a watch sometime. I’ll grade it with a B.
Another View
I just ordered another 17 inch flat panel monitor. After getting a dual display setup at work I just couldn’t live without it at home anymore. I did a few quick searches and found the exact same monitor I bought almost a year ago. This year it’s only $70 in rebates, but the price comes […]
Mouse Twitch
I just figured out the mouse problem I had awhile back. It’s my mousepad. Right now if I try to use the mouse on the mousepad, it will barely move, but if I place the mouse on another surface it doesn’t have a problem. Doesn’t make much sense because most of the time it works […]
Absent
I was absent from the Poker Blogger tournament last night for three reasons:
- I didn’t feel like playing poker.
- I had TV shows to watch.
- I didn’t want to sign up for Titan Poker just to be able to play.
Why do the blogger events move to a new site each time?
