Super Bowl Weekend

My Super Bowl weekend couldn’t have started out any worse. On the ride up to Rogers City I hit a porcupine and it cracked up my front bumper. I’m going to try to get it fixed without replacing it. I talked to one of the body shops back home and they said they would be able to take off the bumper, grind it down, and glue it. Roughly $300-$400 to have that done. He also said probably over $600 to just replace it. Our deductible is $500, so I really like the $300 range a lot more. If it was my car, I just rig it up with some brackets underneath or something, but I have to turn in the lease in less than two months. Great timing!

My Dad got me all excited about the new vehicle again. He told me that the dealer who is looking for my ride found one exactly like I wanted, but it was $1000 more than I wanted to pay. He said there is a lot of time and if he gets one with a little more mileage it shouldn’t be a problem (this one had 24,000). You’re probably wondering what I’m getting right? It’s going to be a 2003 GMC Envoy SLT 4×4 with carbon metallic as the color. Carbon metallic is a really dark gray and looks sweet on these vehicles. It’s really going to be a nice ride. I can’t wait!

I watched some basketball with Dad throughout the weekend and saw Duke crush Georgia Tech. It’s a down year for the Blue Devils, but I’m really enjoying watching this team. They work hard as a team and they have to. Only three of their players are really that great and they don’t have the bench they’ve sometimes had in the past, so they have to hustle on every play. It’s great team ball.

I thought the Super Bowl was a pretty good game to watch. Of course it helped that I won the first quarter of squares with my 0-0 square for $100 profit on the day. I didn’t really care who won the game, but wanted it to be competitive. McNabb just made too many mistakes. Terrell Owens was definitely the surprise of the game. I don’t think anyone could have expected him to be able to play the way he did just 6 weeks after breaking his ankle and having surgery. He didn’t lose a step. If you ask me, he was the player of the game, even though the Eagles lost. You’ve got to tip your hat to the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick. He’s the greatest coach the NFL has ever had. Hands down.

My most memorable moment of the Super Bowl was when Heather said, “How would you like to walk around with the name Gay on your back?” For those of you that don’t know, one of the players from the Patriots last name is Gay. I thought the commercials were pretty good. My favorites were the Ameriquest commercials by far. Careerbuilder.com and Bud Light also had some good ones. I was very surprised to see a couple from Napster, but I think the service they are offering is great, so it might work out for them. In case you missed any, you can view all of the Super Bowl commercials online.

Today I went to the dentist for yet another root canal. I think I’m going to set the world record of root canals in one mouth or something. The insurance company must love me. I use up my benefits every year and could use a whole lot more if I had it. There is still a lot of work to be done in my mouth. I need a post and crown on the tooth they did today. I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I need at least two other root canals that I know of. Who knows what else…isn’t that enough!

I also had my taxes done over the weekend and found out I’d be getting a hefty return. Even better than last year’s return, which was surprising with all of the new income from the web sites I run. Deductions are a man’s best friend! I had so many for the business that they carry over to next year.

Back to work tomorrow…
