Day 2 In Philly

Today, in the first day of class, we covered a lot of material that I had already learned from classes I took during college, so it wa a little boring. After class, I waited for Lindsay to return from her trolley tour and then we headed off for some excitement. I promise this post isn’t nearly as long as Lindsay’s was yesterday…

The only real plan for the night was to stop by Geno’s Steaks for a true Philly Cheesesteak. We took off walking and eventually hopped in a taxi to take us to South Philly, about 3 miles from the hotel. I ordered a Cheese Whiz Steak, Freedom Fries, and a Birch Beer (Root Beer), which was pretty damn good! After eating Lindsay was a little afraid to walk the streets, but we just kept at it and ended up walking the whole way back to the motel.

During the way, I snapped some pictures (will post when I get back to Saginaw) and we stopped at Borders, where I purchased Amarillo Slim in a World Full of Fat People : The Memoirs of the Greatest Gambler Who Ever Lived. I’ve enjoyed reading the last two poker books, so I figured I stick with the topic.

After getting back to the hotel, we stopped by the bar for a few beers. My travel beer (Heineken) was on tap, which turned out to be even better than by the can or bottle. While drinking, Lindsay kicked my ass 3 games to 1 in pool. I’m horrible at the game, but stood my ground pretty well. If it weren’t for a couple of blind “who cares” shots by Ms. Lawes or if I could make a damn 8-ball shot, I would have come out on top.
