When I was learning how to do tricks with my poker chips, I had a hard time finding information on the different tricks. In order to help others in the future, I’ve created a page with explanations and videos for the tricks that I know how to do. The tricks are:
- Chip Flip (Front to Back)
- Knuckle Roll
- Chip Twirl
- Shuffle
I have trouble with the shuffle? Last time I checked, I can do 6 or 7 on each side with good used chips. There are 2 different techniques for the shuffle that I’ve seen. I think you may be talking about the other technique.

Thanks a lot for the instructions and videos. I can’t quite get the chip twirl and the knuckle roll, but I’m working on it. Good luck with the new site.

Ok…I tried the other variation of the shuffle today and I like my way much better! It’s easier to control the left stack with the thumb and index finger on it, then using the index in between the stacks. I can do it either way, but like the middle finger in between the stacks better.

NICE TRiCKS… ❗ However, there’s still several more out there u should pick up. Definately check out one of the previous 2004 episodes of the WSOPoker on ESPN, cause they have a segment in there called “The NUTS” that they dedicated to pokerchip tricks!!

THank you for the very descriptive instructions. My computor would not allow me to view the videos and I still managed to learn some of them. I thought that the twirl was the most difficult and the video may have helped me learn that one but the rest were fairly easy.

this is in response about mike sexton’s comment about heading for the exits if you see someone doing chip tricks at the table:
i think the TV commentators tend to overemphasize the power of chip tricks.
chip tricks are cool, but make sure you’re grounded in the fundamentals first. basic things like pot odds, position, and outs are very much more important than table presense. well, they’re all important, but you won’t be intimidating anyone if you can shuffle your chips, but act out of turn at the table a couple times.
i agree with mtdew, i liked hellmuth’s book “playing poker like the pros”. keep in mind phil’s personality when you read his book though. also, if you want a more technical book, sklansky’s “theory of poker” is good, too.
as they say, “good luck. unless you’re at my table.” 😉

I agree that they do not help or intimidate people at the poker table, but they are fun to do and help to keep you interested while playing.

ok i have gotten to a point now where i can chip roll 5 or more chips perfectly into my open hand w/o them falling over the key is to place the chips almost back to where ur thumb meets the palm of ur hand…make sure ur pinky is situated on a level surface and will not move…when u have this set up, look between the little space left between ur thumb and hand to line up ur pinky so that when u drop the chips, the outside of the chips hits the pinky, sending it in a perfectly straight roll across the table whooo…i hope thats not 2 convoluted

hello again, mt dew.
i have a little clip you can check out if you want to. it’s a 20 chip shuffle. no big deal, just screwing around. i’m no chip master like you.
also, i have a variation of the chip flip. instead of using my thumb, i can do it with the forefinger, as well as doing it with the thumb. i do one of each at the end.
your site is very nice, man. keep up the good work.
i have the clip hosted on my own bandwith, so i hope you don’t mind if i post the link.
