I don’t like keeping track of how much I’ve eaten, I don’t like obsessing over how many grams of a particular nutrient I’ve eaten, and I don’t like worrying that I ate too much/little and the end of the day. Not only do I hate counting calories, but I know that calories are really only half of the battle, as they’re not all created equal – 400 calories of Doritos do NOT affect your body in the same way as 400 calories of high-quality vegetables and chicken.
Fortunately, if you can expand your horizons and remove certain types of food from your diet, you can stop worrying about counting calories FOREVER…
I switched to the Paleo diet 4 weeks ago and I’m loving it. I rarely get hungry between meals, don’t get cravings for shitty food, and I’m losing fat at a healthy pace. The diet also allows my body to function at a high level for CrossFit workouts. If you’re not sure what Paleo is all about, take a few minutes to read the post linked above.
A bit off topic, but do you think you will get Tim Ferriss’ new book when it comes out, or have you already pre-ordered it?

I probably will not buy it. I’m not big on cookbooks. I keep my cooking pretty simple and do fine looking at recipes online.

One of the startups at PIE is a Paleo diet site: Paleo Plan. I’ve always been tempted but haven’t yet make the leap.

Was just talking to Spittle about that earlier. I checked out that site when I started but decided their plan wasn’t for me because of the way I cook and make it last a few days. They have a lot of good recipes and info.

Only 4 weeks? Yer a newb, heh heh. Keep it up. I’m at it maybe 6 months. It’s a challenge at times, especially since I have kids and no one else in the house is Paleo, so there is bad stuff around all the time. Just bought new jeans, size 34 down from 36, cool huh. I feel pretty good overall, most of the time. And CrossFitting has been awesome too

I have tried the diet before. I don’t think it’s easy to keep it up for a long time! I was always so hungry 🙂 But I lost a lot of body fat (went down to 10%) so I guess I will go back on it eventually! I think you have to be careful consuming all that protein. A lot of people are experiencing intolerance to it after a while…
